Hi all,

I’m totally new to the site and ttc. I have a little boy and when pregnant with him we weren’t trying per se, but rather if it happened, it happened. Im therefore not familiar with how I should feel now etc.

This is only our first try and I know it’s unlikely to happen straight away - I’m not that lucky!

i’m extremely impatient and have no knowledge on the subject so been testing since about 6DPO. All negative, no surprise. This morning I got a faint shadow on a cheap test. I tried with a first response this evening and negative :(

I have a few questions… how do you keep yourself occupied during this 2 week wait, it’s so so HARD not to test.

Has anyone ever had a negative first response 9DPO and gone on to have a positive in the next few days? I’m due on in 7 days so tomorrow I can officially test with the early detection. I notice from browsing SOOOO many people get a faint line at 9DPO so not feeling very positive.

Can someone please explain the terminology used on here, what on earth is DD etc

I’ve not had any symptoms at all, has anyone got to 9DPO and not had them, yet gone on to be pregnant.

so sorry for the long post, it’s all new to me and I am literally climbing the walls 😟

Hi @Baby2freddie
The 2ww can feel like forever! I cope by trying not to symptom spot too much, and usually I'll test from 9dpo onwards. There's definitely still a chance for a positive after a negative at 9dpo as it's still early enough that implantation might not even have occured. Lots of people on here only get positives from 14dpo+. They say (FMU first morning urine) is often better, as the hormone has longer to build up, as long as you haven't been up for a pee in the night that is 😅

I was pregnant last month but had a chemical, but I had no symptoms at 9dpo. Everyone's different so try not to overthink 🙂 good luck this month! I'm trying for my first

The terminology on here can be confusing! Some of the common ones...
DD/DD/DH/DW/DP darling son/daughter/husband/wife/partner
OH other half
TTC trying to conceive
BFP/BFN big fat positive/negative (test)
CD cycle day
AF aunt flow (period)
DTD doing the deed
MC/MMC miscarriage/missed miscarriage
CP chemical pregnancy

6 DPO is too early, even 9 DPO is early although some get results. With my first I didn’t get BFP until the day AF was due. Tested the day before and was a definite negative, day after blazing positive.

I wouldn’t bother testing before 9dpo to be honest as even if you get a faint line it will be so faint you won’t believe it and will question it and worry and will end up doing lots more anyway.

I always wait until day after my period is due so 14dpo before I test with a frer but test 12dpo on a cheapie if I think there could be a chance.

I’ve had 2 Chemical pregnancies since October and I’m now 7 weeks pregnant today with my 3rd bfp in 3 cycles. I didn’t have any symptoms that were different to normal pre AF symptoms on any of the times and I had no symptoms when I got pregnant with my daughter until I was 6.5 weeks. This pregnancy I started getting a few symptoms around 4.5 weeks. So basically having no symptoms at 9dpo doesn’t mean no pregnancy. 9dpo is the most common day to implant and you wouldn’t get a positive test until 1-2 days after implantation as takes time for hcg to build up enough to show a line on a test
