Exercise during 2WW

Hi all,

Just wondering what everyone's opinions are on exercising during the 2 week wait as advice seems to be quite conflicting?

I'm normally quite active but am wary of doing anything too high intensity that might disrupt implantation etc. Having said that it's been a year waiting for my cycle to settle after the pill so I am under no illusions that TCC is always quick and easy and I don't want to totally put life on hold either!

When I first started ttc last Jan I reduced my exercise amount as I am the same as you and exercise regularly. In feb I couldn’t take it anymore and exercised intensively nonetheless and got pregnant. I sadly had a mmc in the spring and have been trying ever since, varying my exercise and reducing it on months but haven’t caught since. Honestly I am pretty sure it makes no difference if you reduce the amount, and if it helps you feel sane, continue as your body is used to the exercise already.

There's no known link between low exercise levels increasing conception of pregnancy rates. If you already exercise a GP would tell you to carry on as you are, and only once pregnant to reevaluate the type of exercise you are doing, such as lifting weights, yoga and other exercises that have a higher impact in your pelvic area.

Exercise does increase mental wellbeing, and can aide toward hormone imbalance. It's also very helpful during pregnancy.

If your period isn't regular yet from the pill, you could consider acupuncture from a fertility expert to help aide that also.

Thanks for your replies! Sorry to hear about your miscarriage @Annapolis35 that must have been devastating. Really hope you get a BFP soon!

I shall continue as normal for now then and if I'm lucky enough to be successful I'll seek advice on how much to do going forwards.

6/7 dpo now, I switch to gentle jogging 15-20 mins or 30 mins walking instead during that 2 weeks time, also I just found some fertility/implantation friendly yoga on YouTube today, so will have a go on them as well.

I was also wondering about this as I do cardio/weights classes 2-3 times a week. When my friend who comes to the same gym as me got pregnant the midwife told her she could carry on as normal in the early days as her body was used to it. Just not to push herself too hard.

In the past I’ve tried to take it easier during the tww but always wondered if I really need to, taking into account all the women who get pregnant and don’t even know so soon!

This month I’m just going to carry on as usual as I’ve had a few months of slacking and feel like I need to get back into that positive mindset.. especially after all the Christmas food I’ve eaten 🐷🤣
