Tracking ovulation

I’ve decided I want to track my cycle in Jan to see how long my literal phase is. We aren’t planning on starting trying until august but if it’s short I want to try and sort it before then. Has anyone else done this? How did it go? This is our first one so I feel a bit clueless 😂

I'm in exactly the same position! I started tracking my ovulation a few months ago and we are going to start TTC in Feb. I definitely feel way more in tune with my body, and before I used to ovulation sticks I had convinced myself I wasn't ovulating (based on nothing at all!). Now using the sticks and the Clue app I know when my periods are, when I'm ovulating and I can track all my symptoms. I'm hoping this stands me in good stead in Feb, I'll let you know! At the end of the day I figured it's no harm in me being more in tune with my body!
I just got the cheapy @home tests on Amazon.

Ah that makes me feel better! I just got the cheap ones too. My fiancé says he worries I’m adding too much stress but I think I’ll feel more prepared! Have you done anything else to prepare?

For what it's worth I feel alot less stressed since tracking! Although I imagine it must be very frustrating seeing that you are ovulating and not falling pregnant. I guess not falling pregnant is frustrating regardless though, I don't think the sticks will add to my stress. Seeing I'm ovulating regularly has been comforting.
Well, I've got vitamins which have all the folic acid and stuff in them but tbh I've been taking them very erratically. I was never on the pill for that reason! I will try and up my game and take them more regularly come January I think.

I started using easy@home opk’s before we started ttc too so I could get a hold of how my body works. I had to carry on using them as turned out I ovulate any time from CD12 and CD15 and as you get such a small window to conceive I needed them. They worked though 😊

dogmum93 · 23/12/2022 15:10

@allgoodthings84 that's good to hear they work! How long did it take you to fall pregnant if you don't mind me asking?

allgoodthings84 · 23/12/2022 15:24

@dogmum93 we started in June and didn’t get pregnant that cycle then we both got covid in July and I had read that it can affect sperm for up to 3 months and maybe a coincidence but the first cycle after those 3 months (October) I got pregnant but unfortunately was a chemical then I got pregnant again in November but was another chemical. I’m now pregnant again but only 5 weeks so very early days

Everyone is different though and take different amount of times to get pregnant. Even the same woman can take a lot longer or shorter time to conceive each pregnancy. The ovulation tests definitely pin pointed my ovulation every cycle but that’s all they can do the rest is in the hands of Mother Nature

I am testing a new app - iyoni, and so far I am happy with them, easy to navigate and fast access to docs what I exactly need right now. Planning to add more vitamins and drink more water.

dogmum93 · 23/12/2022 19:47

@allgoodthings84 oohh, ok, sorry to hear about your chemicals but congratulations for this pregnancy!! Xx

Parkopedia · 23/12/2022 21:24

I did this - I came off the pill in may with a view to start TTC in October. I wanted to get to grips with my cycle and make sure I was ovulating (having been on the pill for so long) It was reassuring and there's no harm really!

@allgoodthings84 I read that too about covid affecting sperm. My dh caught covid in early July, including a bit of a fever, and I was convinced we were out for three months. However I conceived in August and I’m currently 20weeks. So it didn’t affect my dh’s sperm, or if it did one beat the odds.

It took us three cycles to conceive, two of the cycles were using ovulation tests and bbt.

Blue2020 · 23/12/2022 22:07

Well I say three cycles to conceive but that’s not the full timeline; we actually started in February, conceived that month and then had a miscarriage in April/May. So I was only counting from the end of the miscarriage in late May in the previous post to keep it about tracking ovulation.

allgoodthings84 · 23/12/2022 22:28

@Blue2020 it may have been complete coincidence for us 😊 just seems weird that right away after those 3 months I got pregnant 3 cycles in a row. It’s all a roll of the dice though of course. Congratulations on your pregnancy

Blue2020 · 24/12/2022 11:12

@allgoodthings84 thats true. Also congratulations too, I hope it all goes well for you.
