I got my implanon taken out in September 2021. I had been using implanon contraception for 8 years consistently and the doctor did say it’s not good to use implanon for that length of time. They also advised me that although I could be lucky in most cases people normally take at least at a year for periods to regulate etc after removal.

for the first 9 months my periods were very heavy and painful and some months did not come at all. They have started to regulate now and I seem to get my period on the 11th every month. I have just started lightly bleeding and I am just completely exhausted from the constant disappointment of not conceiving.

I just don’t know what else I can really do. I think I was really naive thinking that I would stop contraception and that would be it, I have since done loads of research and taken on a lot of things on board. I also take different vitamins and track ovulation etc.

has anybody got any hints, tricks or advice please? Any stories welcome I’m desperate ? Also has anybody else tried at home fertility testing or would you not recommend ?

Hey @Tequilachic12 I don’t have much advice but I just wanted to share I’m feeling the exact same. It’s about 18 months for us, I’ve come on today and I’m gutted, I really wanted to end the year on a high. This time last year I stupidly thought I’d have had a baby by now. I know so many people who started trying early 2022 and all had their babies in November when I’ve not even had so much as an evap line to get excited about. It’s so mentally draining.

Have you asked to be referred to a fertility clinic as it’s been over a year? I was referred in April as I’m over 35. My blood tests did highlight a problem with ovulation so I’ve been prescribed Letrozole and this was only my second cycle with confirmed ovulation so I know it’s still early days, just struggling to see the positives today. I’m also taking various supplements to improve egg quality.

I literally thought I’d have my baby by now to, it’s so disheartening.. yes I have recently been referred to fertility consultant but haven’t heard nothing yet. I was considering paying private for scan and blood test
