Just a little question?

We're thinking about trying for a second baby this year but while reading the books I got while pregnant the first time they say you should be a healthy weight. The books say that I'm overweight. Im slightly worried that if I do get pregnant it will cause problems.
Does it cause real problems or am I worrying over nothing?

Sorry if Im rambling.

Yeah same here. Where I work a load of us decided to lose weight and we'd go swimming together but every week so far one or another of us has been unable to go

I think it really depends on the person to be honest. I am quite overweight and had the cruisiest pregnancy and the healthiest baby. Skinny friend of mine had high blood pressure, got maternal diabetes - all the kind of stuff I was worried I might get. Good luck and don't worry

Thanks Cinnamontam

If you're a size 16 you might well be bigger than you'd like to be and probably have a BMI well over 25, but it doesn't sound like you're a weight which should cause real added risks in pregnancy. Can you discuss it with a doctor/health visitor.

Perhaps with the swimming thing you should agree not to wait for everyone to be able to go, but that those of you who can make it get along there. Or just go with one other person?

I've got a BMI of 27. The doctor said I should try to lose some weight but she doesn't think it will cause any problems.
