Hycosy - effect on the cycle?

Hi everyone,
can you share your experience with how HyCosy affected your cycle!
I had mine a few days before ovulation and I’m just wondering whether it delays period. Thanks!

Mine didn't affect it in terms of length or anything, it just seemed normal. I was pregnant two months later though :)

summerchild92 · 25/11/2022 11:53

@TheBirdintheCave for how long have you been trying if I may ask? And did you have blocked tubes and the procedure somewhat flushed them?
my experience wasn’t so bad - just a bit of cramping - as my fallopian tubes were clear. However the dr still said the procedure might still be therapeutic. AF is due today but still not here 😬

We have male factor fertility issues and I had the HyCoSy as we were being put on the route for IVF. I was told mine was all clear too and there were no suspected issues with me at all.

We'd been trying for 13 cycles at that point (Dec 24th 2020) and I got pregnant on cycle 15. We found out the day before we were due to start our first IVF round and our son turned two yesterday :D

TheBirdintheCave · 25/11/2022 12:00

*Dec 24th 2019. Sorry I can't count haha.

anothercold · 25/11/2022 12:04

I didn't have any cycle changes, except that the very next month I fell pregnant! Another one with no blockages found but the procedure itself does seem to flush out small natural blockages that you wouldn't know about.
The same thing happened to my friend too.

One thing I want to know is if it's worth having another HyCosy 2 years after a successful pregnancy as I am now TTC again and nothing is happening...

summerchild92 · 25/11/2022 14:26

@anothercold I don’t know how you feel about it, but if it helped me fall pregnant first time around, i’d definitely try it again. :) i don’t know if HyCosy is funded where you are … I paid 150€ (I went privately as I didn’t want to wait much longer, if I wanted funding, I’d have to wait a few months) and if it helped me get pregnant, I’d definitely choose this procedure over IVF.

I'm thinking about it but would love to know if anyone's ever had a second one after a couple of years and a successful pregnancy. No idea if it's a thing, or if having one so soon again is medically unnecessary.

TheBirdintheCave · 25/11/2022 18:25

@anothercold I was planning on it for this time round and was going down the IVF route again but we've had to cancel our first appointment as I'm now 4 weeks pregnant 😂

I think it's worth a shot!

EnnaMc · 25/11/2022 20:59

I've just posted a thread before I saw this. It's lovely to read positive stories on here. They give me hope. X

summerchild92 · 28/11/2022 18:10

Bump :)
anyone else with a story?

OP posts:
EnnaMc · 30/11/2022 15:01

Just revisiting...

I had my HyCoSy on Friday. Period came yesterday as expected (Tuesday) but it's so, so light and looks like old/brown blood. Nothing like my usual period at all. Has anyone had similar?

Thanks ☺️

summerchild92 · 30/11/2022 15:28

@EnnaMc I think my period is just around the corner (finally - abiut four days late 😬), I’ll let you know what’s it like compared to how it usually is. I’ve read so many different experiences with AF after hycosy … It must be different with everyone.

Yes please, keep me updated. I've read a few different stories and live in hope after reading those who went on to conceive. You'll have to keep us updated with it all. Good luck xx

EnnaMc · 04/12/2022 10:24

Universxx · 04/12/2022 14:56

@EnnaMc yes! AF came eventually. It’s the same as always, albeit late. Not at all painful tho! :)

Hi.

Oh gosh. I can't give you an answer to that, I don't know, I don't know why I'm not pregnant yet.

I'm sorry it was painful and unsuccessful for you. I do hope your time comes soon x

Whatever goes in, gets out.
the dye isn’t toxic, nor does it have an effect on the embryo.
unfortunately if your fallopian tubes are completely blocked, you will not get pregnant? If they somehow unblocked them, then you could get pregnant, of course.

Why couldn’t they finish the procedure? Did they do the vaginal ultrasound or not? Maybe elaborate a little bit and I’ll be able to help. @Universxx

OP posts:
Universxx · 06/12/2022 16:04

@summerchild92 hello yes they done the vaginal ultrasound and my womb is fine my left ovary has a cyst and my right one is fine and as soon as the gynaecologist put the blue dye in I nearly passed out he has to stop put my chair back so the blood could rush to my head and then I was sick and had the worst cramps I have asthma so I wasn’t allowed one of there pain killers after and was sick for hours after I have to have to be put to sleep in 5 weeks and have keyhole surgery to see my tubes that way 😩 I’m hoping I fall pregnant before I have to get operated on.

Universxx · 06/12/2022 16:06

@EnnaMc we will get pregnant soon sending loads of baby dust your way x

summerchild92 · 07/12/2022 08:23

@Universxx o wow, that’s intense.
For me it was a bit painful when they put the dye in but not so bad. I was ill (just cough) and the most annoying thing was the need to cough during the procedure haha … the pain was manageable.

so there’s really no way to know what’s going on with your tubes. They could be completely fine … or, worst case scenario, blocked. I did hear the procedure is more painful for women with blocked fallopian tubes … but I’ve also heard of women saying it was excruciating pain for them and they didn’t have blocked tubes - so who knows really. I guess it depends on your pain threshold…

fx you get pregnant before op. 😬
