I don’t want to go to the effort and it not work or I misunderstand it!
can anyone please recommend a thermometer
what app to use (can I just use apple health that I’m already tracking in?)
and also a crash course on how to do it?

thank you

I just use the cheapest one with temperatures to two decimal places off Amazon, it seems to be fine.

are you trying to achieve or avoid pregnancy? I’ve only ever used charting to avoid. The sensiplan handbook is good for a basic grounding in the fertility awareness method and is a lot more concise than ‘taking control of your fertility’ which is also often recommended but is basically a door-stop of a book! I use the Kindara app because it’s free and it’s customisable and doesn’t calculate my fertile window for me (which is basically counting days/the rhythm method - AVOID!).

Whatever your intentions conception wise you need to cross refer bbt with cervical fluid observations for a decent idea what’s going on, and you can also add in those ovulation pee sticks and checking your cervix (texture, position, openness of the os) as additional data.

How do you track the temps? What app is best?

I flit between tracking on paper and using kindara. Are you trying to conceive? If so cervical fluid is going to be a better indicator to track because your bbt will rise after you’ve ovulated.

Yes TTC im finding it’s not always obvious from CM and with PCOS the ovulation sticks aren’t always ideal I think. I was thinking of trying BBT instead but I don’t really know how it works, will do some more reading!
hoping to get some sense that I actually am ovulating (I do have regular periods) but not sure if BBT will show that

it’ll help confirm ovulation yep, definitely worth a go. The only issue for ttc is that I think your temperature shifts after ovulation, but it’ll definitely give you a clearer idea of what’s going on with your cycle and if you do temp and cervical fluid together you might get more familiar with fertile cf as well.
