Hi,

I've been trying to get pregnant for 2 years now! I have had 2 miscarriages this year and I just cannot describe how deflated I am feeling! Or the pressures it has put on my relationship!!

Due to the fact I have had the miscarriages I was told there wasn't much the doctor could do as I am able to conceive!

Does anyone know any different? Should they help me? Could I ask for anything specific?

Any help would be so appreciated as I really don't know what to do 😢😢

Thank you xx

Sorry I'm not much help but just wanted to let you know you're not alone. I'm in the exact same boat.
2 miscarriages and they won't investigate until I've had 3. Been just over 2 years for me. Flowers

@kookyelephant sorry for the obvious question, it may not be of any help but have you had your progesterone checked? I would hope you could get some from the doctor to help support a viable pregnancy - I think you take them in pessary form.

Thanks for your reply, I haven't had it checked no, but as I have had two miscarriages, when and if I get pregnant again I am able to ring the doctor and ask for the pessary! Xx

There's actually a lot of tests they can do if you have recurrent miscarriages. Were you ever given any reasons for the miscarriages? They can test you for blood clotting disorders or certain antibodies. It seems like they often only do this with recurrent miscarriage, which they tend to classify as three, but two isn't far off.

As the other poster said, checking progesterone is a good idea. They could give it you to take post ovulation, and it's currently recommended to give it women who bleed or spot in early pregnancy and they have a history of loss. I had a chemical pregnancy in May, and when i started bleeding at 6 weeks in this pregnancy I went to the early pregnancy unit and got progesterone. I'm only 10 weeks now, but been taking the progesterone since then and as of two days ago, the scan showed a healthy pregnancy! We've been trying for over a year, so I get your frustration. I think the best thing is to arm yourself with as much information as you can and then you can advocate for yourself.

It might also be worth contacting Tommy's, they are a midwife charity and have a free phone call service during the week. I rung them when I was trying to decide whether to take progesterone and the woman I spoke to was very helpful.

Thank you! I have been told because I'm not classed as recurrent it does t stand for me, but I don't know if pressuring my doctor to help more would work or whether I would get told the same answer!

I have a gripe with tommys at the moment as they are still sending me updates on BOTH pregnancy's even after I have requested multiple times to not be sent them! But I will put that aside and give them a ring! (Thank you)

Wishing you well in your pregnancy however, congratulations xx

@kookyelephant I would say it's really effecting you and whilst you understand you cannot go through any investigations until you've had 3 (!!!), you'd like a chance at preventing going through that again. I've read about other people going hard on their GP.... worth a go.
