Hi,
We're looking to start trying for a baby next year. Do people usually visit the doctor before to get advice and have a check up or is that only usually needed if you have a medical condition? My sisters have both had very way babies due to pre eclampsia so I'm a little bit anxious about the whole idea! I'm pretty healthy, don't smoke or drink, not overweight, healthy diet.
Any other advice people could give? I'd really like to still feel able to be active during pregnancy so have been doing some extra exercise but I know it's all very individual as to how it actually goes!

I've never known anyone go to the GP before starting trying to conceive. You'll have a midwife appointment when you get to about 8 weeks pregnant and that's when you can express any concerns you have regarding exercise, preeclampsia etc as they take a full family history and give advice on staying healthy in pregnancy then.
Good luck!
