Hi All

Super frustrated I have my day 21 blood results but no one at the dr surgery are available to explain them to me. I know you aren't doctors but my result were 27.1 - does anyone know if that number is a confirmed ovulation, or any helpful advice on what this means?

Thanks,
Lexie

I'm not an expert but I've had the same tests and mine was 23. The note on my results said they expect it to be over 30 at 21 days, so I was referred to a specialist. I'm waiting on more results at the moment.
Sounds like yours are just a little low, which could be timing, are you sure it was the correct dates? I.e. could you have ovulated early?

I ovulated on Day 18 not sure if that makes a difference?

@Ldougal92 that would have made a huge difference. It’s only day 21 if you ovulate on day 14 and have a 28 day cycle. It should be done 5-7dpo close to the middle if your luteal phase when progesterone is at your peak. My luteal phase is 12 days so I had mine on 6dpo. At only 3dpo your progesterone would have been rising still so if it was 27.1 3dpo then it will have carried on rising for a few days so will have been over 30 on the right day.

I do wonder what my fertility specialist is thinking sometimes. Thank you so much for this, you’ve really put my mind at rest. X

@Ldougal92 it’s a bit concerning that a fertility specialist didn’t advise you of this 😞. Even my GP knew when I explained my cycles aren’t 28 days and they aren’t the best at things like this.

I would say you definitely have nothing to worry about 😊 and if you tell your specialist it was only 3 days after ovulation she will say the same I’m sure.

It’s a man 🙄 don’t get me started! I don’t get any blood tests except this one. No scans. Nothing (I’m on clomid) - it’s been a bit of a disaster to be honest! Thanks again for your help!

Ahhhh. Hmmm maybe he shouldn’t be a fertility specialist if he doesn’t understand women’s cycles 🤦‍♀️

could you ask for a re test being it was on the wrong day for you? I would say you’re definitely all good with those levels at only 3dpo though

Notlivinglife · 26/10/2022 17:46

Anyone else fed up with going out, and being with people who don't really give a fig about you?

I dont know why I bother sometimes 😕

My thoughts exactly. To be honest I just wanted to make sure I ovulated (knowing my dosage of clomid was right). I’ve had periods so signs are good but the blood test through me! So think I’m okay now. Thanks. X

@Ldougal92 I’m glad I could help out your mind at ease. I know it’s very worrying wondering if things are working properly

SaraSS · 26/10/2022 20:05

Sorry delayed response. I agree with the above messages, with your dates sounds like your levels are good.
Can I ask if a GP gave you Clomid or did you have to go through a specialist? I'm waiting on my blood results through a specialist but it's taking forever and I wonder if I get a normal GP appointment if they will prescribe Clomid..

allgoodthings84 · 26/10/2022 20:56

@SaraSS I don’t know about GP’s prescribing clomid personally but from what I have seen on here previously I think they do if the day 21 tests show it’s needed to be able to ovulate. I know I got my nhs blood results within a couple days though so it shouldn’t be ages through a specialist. I would get bloods done through your GP anyway as the results will be on record to take privately afterwards if needs be

I don’t think GPS can prescribe clomid. Mine was done through my fertility specialist. X

Thanks for the responses :-)
I'm already with an nhs specialist, but it's just taking a long time. I had day 21 tests through GP which triggered the referrel to the specialist.
The specialist has ran the day 3-5 test and the results were ready within a few days but I'm on a wait list to get the results.. the tests were done in August.. so frustrating. I've rang a few times to check I've not slipped through the net, but I'm on the list, just a long list.
I've ordered some different fertility suppliemnts to see if it makes any difference in the meantime!

allgoodthings84 · 26/10/2022 22:56

@SaraSS thats mad! I could have my day 3-5 test done at my GP too and again results ready a couple days later on my nhs app. I didn’t end up doing the day 3 tests in the end as I got pregnant (in the cycle I had my day 21 bloods typically) so cancelled it but unfortunately lost it at 5 weeks but as I got pregnant I think the day 3 tests wouldn’t be needed. I wonder why it’s taking so long through the specialist when GP results come back so fast

allgoodthings84 · 26/10/2022 22:59

@SaraSS as it’s an nhs specialist would the results not be on your nhs record as they have the results? All my results are on my record. I’ve not spoken to a doctor or specialist about my results as I could see they were normal and as I then got pregnant I wouldn’t be referred to a specialist now anyway unless I have another 2 losses

SaraSS · 27/10/2022 09:46

@allgoodthings84
I think it's just because they are so busy. The wait times to get an appointment are ages.
I've got the NHS app, by bloods from the GP are on there from when I was referred but the ones taken in Aug haven't been uploaded. I'm guessing it's because a doctor hasn't assessed the results yet... so frustrating..

Purple29 · 27/10/2022 16:36

Hi, just reading all of this and was wondering if anyone could help with my results? I got my bloods done on cd22, which was 9dpo and progesterone was 27.8, they want to redo them next cycle? So is this low then? I'm expecting my cycle to be 26/27 days.

SaraSS · 27/10/2022 18:47

@Purple29
I have minimal knowledge but that sounds about right. They're probably just checking it's consistent if you're having trouble TTC and blood tests are nice and simple to do that. I wouldn't worry with that score :-)
Mine was low 20s for my day 21, which triggered a referral to the specialist, but I was told it's not necessarily accurate as the dates are hard to predict without scans etc

allgoodthings84 · 27/10/2022 18:49

I think they like it to be at 30+ to confirm a decent ovulation but some say 20+ depends on the GP and progesterone can vary hugely throughout the day. 9dpo is a little late for a 13 day LP (if it was 26 day cycle) so it could just be that the levels have started to drop which is normal. That’s why they probably want you to repeat it. It needs to be done around 5-7dpo or half way through your LP. I have a 12 day LP so had mine on 6dpo. I’m guessing they want to check it’s just your levels dropping naturally and not that it was already low at the right time. I would say it’s normal for 9dpo but it’s best to retest at the peak of your LP as this is the most accurate.

Purple29 · 27/10/2022 20:10

Thank you both so much, that's a bit reassuring. Role on next cycle!!!
