hi all, i'm quite new to mumsnet and was hoping for some advice. We have to lovely children and ttc no.3. I have heard that going from 1-2 children is harder than 2-3 children, does anyone agree with this? Also i suffored with postnatal depression after our second, i think it was because ds was a crier, anyone know if i'm more likely to suffor with this again?

We have 4 DC and must admit did find 1-2 harder in terms of coping, however 2-3 harder with the practicalities, like cars, houses, holidays. All geared around 2 parents, 2 kids. Will leave your postnatal depression query to some more expert mumsnetters on this subject. If you've made the decision to have no. 3 then it is the right thing for your family. Good luck.

Hello . I've got 3dds, and definitely found the hardest leap from 0 to 1! 2-3 was the easiest - no.3 just fitted in! If I had to choose, I'd say 2-3 was easier than 1-2, although the latter was a bit of a blur as just 16 months between dd1 & 2. I also had pnd with dd2, but not with dd1 or 3. Hope this helps!

0-1 was the hardest for me, 1-2 was easy, 2-3 was pretty damn hard again. I don't think you can say there is a definate pattern, everyone's experience is different.

thanks so much for your responses. I agree that everyone's experience is different and we also found it harder going from 0-1 than 1-2 in terms of the shock in lifestyle change.

We're also ttc no.3. I'm hoping that going from 0-1 was the hardest, as I didn't find it too difficult goin from 1-2, but did leave a 3.5yr age gap so I think that helped. Both dd's were pretty easy babies (no colic, slept ok etc) so I'm probably tempting fate by trying for another
