What does morning sickness feel like?

I've been TTC this cycle, AF is due in a couple days so I haven't tested yet to avoid disappointment. I was going about my morning and suddenly I had to stop suddenly and lean forward because I felt extreme nausea out of nowhere.

I'm not saying this is the start of morning sickness but it did get me thinking, what does morning sickness feel like/ how would you describe it? I expect it'll be a bit different for everyone. Was it like this, suddenly catching you out, or was it feeling ill in general?

My best way to describe it would be like a travel sickness feeling.

Mine happened quite suddenly (didn't know I was pregnant at the time) I had just started medication which said it could cause nausea. I didn't even think to test. Anyway eventually found out I was pregnant and the sickness for me lasted until I was like 14-18 weeks couldn't tell you at what point it started though.

You know, it did feel quite like that (I get terrible motion sickness) so I might have to break out the tests after all

Extreme nausea all day long every day for 5 months, along with being sick several times daily.

Regularsizedrudy · 05/09/2022 10:29

Constant underlying nausea with peaks of forceful vomiting 🤮

IceStationZebra · 05/09/2022 10:29

Mine was mild and only lasted a couple of weeks, but was like general malaise and that weird gnawing/churning feeling in your stomach when you’re very hungry. Sipping water and snacking kept it at bay and I was never actually sick.

OctopusBreath · 05/09/2022 10:31

The nausea was worse than the actual vomiting for me- At least after throwing up you have a few minutes of feeling okay! Also, if you feel nauseous again, eat something- It feels really weird and wrong, but in pg, eating something immediately calmed the nausea.

NiqueNique · 05/09/2022 10:32

It didn’t for me, sadly. I couldn’t really keep anything down. I weighed less after my first pregnancy than I had weighed before I got pregnant.

DD1 - certain food smells just made me feel utterly sick, like when you have a hangover and smell the booze from the night before. Vomiting when my stomach was empty.

Current pregnancy - extreme, intense nausea, heavy stomach feeling. Which only lifted when I started vomiting 5+ times a day and at night. Still in the thick of it.

DuneFan · 05/09/2022 10:35

Like a really bad hangover. I wasn't sick but tired, headache, nauseous. Horrible taste in my mouth.

junebirthdaygirl · 05/09/2022 11:09

In the beginning it was like that ...sudden rush of nausea. Developed then into full on vomiting every morning followed by extreme nausea all day.

catsandkid · 05/09/2022 12:07

Travel sickness feeling 24/7 for me, including at night. No relief and relentless. I felt nausea in my throat if that makes any sense. I found it hard to read/work on my laptop as (similar to motion sickness) trying to focus made me feel even more hideous.

Add into that major food aversions and even a small whiff of the smell of certain foods have your stomach churning.

I rarely actually vomitted. But I would be dry-heaving into the toilet/sick bowl about 10 times a day until I was 16wks gone.

nancydroo · 05/09/2022 12:10

Morning sickness feels like never ending food poisoning. If you're not being sick you feel you will at any moment. Most smells are acute and even sounds can make you feel woozy. I had sickness throughout both pregnancies. Clothes can make you throw up and so can cars. Even if you wear a low cut top it feels like it's around your neck. Horrible.

xxcatcatcatxx · 05/09/2022 12:12

It depends how badly you have it, mine was like my worst hangover, those awful ones where you can’t eat anything xxx

BuffaloCauliflower · 05/09/2022 12:14

I’ve never actually been sick in pregnancy, but more like a hangover for weeks on end.

Soproudoflionesses · 05/09/2022 12:15

Mine started the day after l found out l was pregnant.
It came out of nowhere and as soon as l was sick l was fine so couldn't wangle a day off work even lol.
Different for everyone e l would imagine.

redlou123 · 05/09/2022 12:25

Mine felt exactly like a hangover - nauseous and really tired. Felt pretty rotten most of the time but sometimes worse than others. I was never actually sick at all, but thought I was going to be on a number of occasions. I actually wanted to be as thought I might get a bit of relief for a short period, but nope. Food sometimes helped but sometimes made it worse. Lasted until around 14/15 weeks.

Puppypads · 05/09/2022 12:38

Like a hangover, mixed with jet lag and altitude sickness thrown in for good measure. Sudden waves of utter exhaustion.
Smells hitting you like a ton of bricks out of nowhere and feeling all the saliva build up in your mouth before you vomit. But no actual vomiting.
I loathed pregnancy 😁

LegoFiends · 05/09/2022 12:40

I had very mild nausea, just that sick feeling you get after being hungry for a while without eating
