Irregular cycles

Hi all

So my cycles have now become irregular with an 11 day variance.

I have a call with my gp on Wednesday as we’ve now been ttc for 18 months! (I did have a call with my doctor around 6 months ago, but was advised to wait until 18 months🙄) I’m going to ask for them to start testing me now for any potential reasons as to why I haven conceived yet…

Is the variance something I should definitely bring up with them? I’m 26, nearly 27 and have always had a regular cycle, up until about 2 years ago when they started becoming shorter/longer.

Should I be worried about them varying this much? And what could the reason be for them to vary so much?

Thank you if you even read this far😂x

Firstly sorry that you're also going through it not happening as quickly as we would like, it's so tough every month isn't it Flowers

Have you been using ovulation test kits at all OP? This might help with establishing timings and also the more information you can give the doctor, the better.

Hi @wellhelloitsme

I haven’t actually done any tests since June, I felt like they were stressing me out quite a lot so decided to stop to try and avoid testing stress on top of the fact I haven’t conceived yet.

I think I only had one month where I got my peak quite later than usual, which obviously worried me quite a lot.

I’m just worried that there may be something wrong😔x

@Chlo1995 sorry to hear your having a bit of a stressful time😔 it’s so hard to worry something might be wrong, I’m on my first cycle back ttc after a mmc and am already panicking in case it takes ages to fall again…
how did the call with the the GP go? Xx

Chlo1995 · 11/09/2022 14:35

@ChloeN honestly try not to stress yourself, I know it’s easier said than done!
my call with them went great really, I’ve to book in for some blood tests and I’ve been referred to the fertility clinic as he wasn’t sure on wait times!

I hope everything runs smoothly for you and it doesn’t take you too long x

@Chlo1995 oh that’s good I’m pleased you’re moving forward!

I’ll try! It’s my first month tracking ovulation but not sure if that’s helping or not!

Chlo1995 · 11/09/2022 16:48

@ChloeN in my opinion tracking ovulation is great for a few months to really get to know when abouts you ovulate!
I had to stop testing because I was becoming obsessed and it put a lot more stress on us and it just didn’t feel natural that we’d then end up planning everything around ovulation.

I would definitely keep with the testing for a few months though so you know how your cycles are x

@Chlo1995 did you use clearblue or just the LH strips? I’m using both at the moment but my LH seems to be taking absolutely ages to rise, not sure if my hormones are still a bit all over the place tho xx

Chlo1995 · 11/09/2022 18:33

@ChloeN I just used the normal lh test, but found that premom were the best! I did have some with either blue or green on them and they were rubbish because they were always so faint, so if you have those, bin them and definitely try the premom ones! Premom also have an app you can upload them to which I found really helpful!

You can also try bbt but I also found that a bit too tedious for me, especially with having broken sleep😂

You just need to find what works best for you!x
