How difficult is this going to be...?

I'm 28 and on cycle 2 of TTC DC1.
I've had disordered eating in the past (~15 years) and had the implant removed in 2020 after 9 years, so I was expecting some disruption to my cycle.
It's regulated itself pretty well, however it's definitely on the short side, averaging around 24 days long. I've not done any ovulation tests yet, but from my CM I'm guessing it's happening 4-7 days from the beginning of my period.
From what I've read this could make it more difficult, because of the follicles needing more time to mature, but it's so hard to know!
Does anyone have any experience/advice?
I know it's still so early in the process but being a parent is literally something I've been waiting my whole life to do.

Hi, well firstly you are still young so you have time on your side with this.

That is quite a short cycle, but it's impossible to say - having a short cycle doesn't in itself mean you will struggle. Anything between 21 to 40 days is classed as normal, so you may be absolutely fine.

I recommend you start doing OPK's to see if you are ovulating, and get an appointment at a fertility clinic to get checked out.

I have shorter periods, I went on the pill (naively) because my periods were very irregular. After 9 years I came off and like yours, they returned pretty quickly to a normal ish cycle but was short ever 24-26 days. I TTC for 2 years before I fell pregnant.

I live in Scotland, I was told I needed to try for one year before I could receive any help. I used different apps and ovulation kits but found the apps work on coding and when they think I should ovulate so actually were too early for me. Using the kits I found I ovulated later in the cycle. I then became fixed on using the kits and it felt like I was adding all this extra stress and pressure on dh and I to dtd on certain days.

Dh and I decided to get rid of the apps and kits. I started taking folic acid and we just decided to see how it goes. We dtd every few days but just took the pressure off and had fun. I noticed when j ovulated as I felt my temperature rise and I felt more naturally in the mood. After 2 months of just having fun with it, I fell pregnant and it was the best surprise.

Everyone will have lots of different advice on what works for them but do what suits you and your dp. Don’t be afraid to go to your doctor and get some medical advice and support.
(sorry for the long post!)

I don't have experience of a short cycle, but I think I've read that taking pregnacare has extended cycles.
