Scared to test

I have had 3 misscarriages in the past year and we decided not to try anymore. (I'm 41 and we have children already) My period 5 days late. No other symptoms apart from a bit of nausea.

I can't bring myself to take a test. If it's positive then I will just be waiting to miscarry again. My dp knows I'm late but doesn't seem to want to talk about it.

I'm not sure really, maybe I just need to write it down as it's spinning round my head.

If you confirm pregnancy by taking a test, then contact you're gp straight away, who could maybe prescribe a higher dose folic acid, aspirin etc which may help prevent another miscarriage. I'm not saying it will 100% prevent another miscarriage, but it may help, I have been were you are now, so i know how you are feeling right now. Take it easy, and I hope you get the result/outcome you are wanting.

Wishing you the best of luck with everything, my fingers are crossed for you x

I decided to take a test, there is a faint line. It shouldn't be faint at 5 days late so it's either a chemical or evap line.

I've made the mistake I now realise of getting a sainsurys test which I've now read are notorious for false positives. So non the wiser really.

I took this picture, this the test after 2 mins. It's far to faint to be 6 days late.

OP! Understand your concerns about the faint line, but I actually think that is quite dark. I didn’t have any line until 9 days late which was a real head f**k!
everything crossed for you 🤞🏻

Zincoop · 20/08/2022 08:04

Wow, 9 days late!? I can imagine that must've been really stressful!!

It's so confusing 😕

It looks like a good line... do you know when you ovulated to be 100% sure that you're 5 days late?

allboysmum3 · 20/08/2022 09:10

Best of luck!! I actually think that's quite a distinctive positive line. Dates could be slightly off etc but that's a positive to me. X

Mamastarz · 20/08/2022 09:14

It's not about how dark the line is, the fact there is a line, which is positive.
You may have ovulated later in you're cycle, so therefore not essentially 5 day's late. Hopefuly this makes sense.
Wishing you all the best of luck.

Zincoop · 20/08/2022 10:13

Thanks for the replys

I haven't been tracking my cycles at all since the last misscarriage so I have no idea when I ovulated. My previous cycle was 26 days which is shorter than my usual 28.

We were ttc for a while last year so I know occasionally I did ovulate a bit later than cd14, cd18/19 happened a couple of times.

I decided to do a clearblue test because of all the false positives that I've read about the sainsburys test and it came up as a strong positive straight away.

So I'm pregnant. I have the stronger folic acid already so I've taken one. We've decided not to tell anyone, I can't get past thinking impending misscarriage rather than impending baby. 😥

Many women are prescribed progesterone to support pregnancy as early as from bfp moment especially those who had multiply miscarriages. You could adress this to doctor.

Wishing you all the luck in the world 🤞🏼 x. What stage do you usually get to in your pregnancy? I'm almost 11 weeks just now and once I hit that stage where I miscarried before I relaxed every so slightly. I'm still a nightmare but, don't think there will ever be a day in this pregnancy that I don't stress and think the worst x

Thank you, I have heard of this actually. I could message the surgery tomorrow and see what they say.

Thank you xx I've had a chemical, an eight week loss and my last one was at my 12 week scan, baby died at 12+3 according to measurements so it was when we thought we were safe. ( had seen baby happily moving about at a private scan a week before)

Yes definitely contact you're gp, ask about aspirin and progesterone, and if you're gp won't prescribe them ring the EPU and speak with them.
Congratulations and hope all goes well with the gp tomorrow.
