Hi,

New to taking OPKs, first test is yesterday and second test is today, is it possible I've peaked in this time? I'm only CD10!

How long is your cycle length approx? It's possible if you had a short cycle but continue testing twice a day and you should hopefully see a peak around day 14-18 with an average cycle x

Rowen32 · 17/08/2022 22:43

They're both negative..

KatySp · 17/08/2022 23:40

No one will know if you peaked between these tests. At CD10 it's unlikely, but not impossible.

Personally I would test twice a day until you get to know your pattern. Once you have used OPKs for a month or 2 you will start to see a pattern which is usual for you. For example, Some have really quick surges so if they tested once a day their tests would look like these. Others have more of a build up so the lines get darker and darker until it peaks.

Batbatbatty · 18/08/2022 06:28

They are negative tests, OP. The test line has to be darker than or as dark as the control line to be a positive.
A positive then indicates the LH surge, which is usually followed a day later by ovulation.

They're both negative..

I didn't ask if they were positive, I asked if it was possible to have missed a positive seeing as the second one is lighter

Okay thank you, I will keep testing to see!

I know I'm able to to read the instructions, I did f ask if they were positive tests. I asked if it was possible for me to have missed a positive test within the 24 hours between taking them because the newer one is fainter.

Excuse me..
I highly doubt it when you're testing that much.. More likely to do with concentration of urine..
I found it easier to test at the same time each day having consumed the same amount of liquid

Rowen32 · 18/08/2022 07:28

When you get a positive you'll realise why we said straight out they were negative

Rowen32 · 18/08/2022 07:29

Your op was confusing so there's no need to be rude to people trying to help

mamazac · 18/08/2022 07:30

My question states that I'm new to using opks's have tested 24 hours apart and think I might have missed a peak in that time, there's no need for blunt responses making me feel like an idiot for asking questions

Wow.
Excuse us for trying to help. And no, your OP was not entirely clear. Had you asked "have I peaked between last night's and today's test?" then yes, that would have been clear. I interpreted it to mean whether you had already had a peak before cd10.

Blue2020 · 18/08/2022 14:34

If you haven’t found it already, you can put these into premom the app and 1) keep track and 2) it gives a value for them to show if it’s low, high, peak.

If you are usually 28 day cycles, you may find it appears around cd13-15 but this is presuming you have a typical 14 day luteal time and also that it’s not a whacky cycle. I’m having that this cycle and it was 5 days late.

I would suggest to keep taking opks through the cycle to see the pattern since it’s the first time. Try not to miss a day, and if you can twice a day is good. A peak is when the test line is darker than the control like.

mamazac · 19/08/2022 09:43

@Blue2020 thank you so much that's really helpful!

I have continued taking them and they're even lighter now so I'm assuming I have already peaked and might have picked to worst cycle to start OPK's on!

Last cycle was 25 days so don't know if that might explain the difference?

palmerita · 19/08/2022 10:47

^^ really good advice! Are you ttc OP? Keep taking them until you get your period and then start again when you finish it, it sometimes good to track it all for a couple of months before ttc so you can get a good picture of when you ovulate so you don't miss it! Best of luck xxx

mamazac · 19/08/2022 10:50

@palmerita hi! Yes we are ttc, have been for a couple of months now, with my first we did it in 3 months without any OPK's so thought we could do the same this time, clearly not haha.

I will keep taking them and see what happens, when I look back on my Flo tracker to when I conceived previously our DTD dates don't line up with ovulation at day 14, so I might just be someone that ovulates early, who knows!

Thanks for your help x
