Low, slow rising HCG and bleeding

Hi ladies

We are trying to conceive baby number 3. We already have two daughters aged 4 and 2, and we had absolutely no problems conceiving them. Unfortunately number 3 is proving more difficult and I’ve already had two losses in the past 8 months. One was a natural miscarriage at 9 weeks (turned out to be an empty sac) and the second was a missed miscarriage for which I had to have an operation to remove.

i’ve now found out I’m pregnant again but it’s not going well 😔 I got a positive test but then started bleeding for 4 days, it was just the same as a normal period. I’ve had 3 blood tests, 48 hours apart, which showed my HCG was 7, 9 and then 15.

I am positive this is not a viable pregnancy. Due to the low, slow rising HCG, and the bleeding, I really think this ectopic. However the hospital have refused to treat me and said I need to wait 2-3 weeks and then take another pregnancy test, or to come back if I experience any pain. They also said this could be normal hormone fluctuations and that there is actually no pregnancy?! But then what is creating the HCG?!

I’m upset and I feel like I’m just waiting for my tube to rupture. I know it will take a while with my HCG being so low. But what else could the outcome be?

Has anyone been in a similar position, and if so what was the outcome? Xx

I’m really sorry you’re going through this ☹️. I don’t know much about ectopics but how far along are you? I don’t think they test for it until 6weeks after conception as can’t tell until then but I may not be quite right.

It could also be a chemical pregnancy if you’re still very early on which just sorts itself out with a bleed which you count as a period and a lot of women never realise they have had one

So sorry you are experiencing this worry.

When you say the hospital told you to wait 2-3 weeks, what department was it? If it wasn’t an EPU, could you contact your local EPU directly?
