Clomid with 1st baby, now what?!

Hello!
Used Clomid to conceive my DS in 2020. I came off the pill in 2019 (after 10 years) and was having long cycles and irregular periods. By 2020 I was having no periods but due to the first lockdown, I couldn’t be seen at the GP/fertility clinic. I had a telephone apt and a blood test and they think I have PCOS but didn’t confirm this with more tests like ultrasound and aside from irregular periods I don’t have any of the classic symptoms. I was given Clomid and conceived on my first round.
Since giving birth, my period has been coming monthly, cycle length between 27-35 days.
Would this indicate I don’t have PCOS?! We want to start TTC soon, so do I try and track ovulation or do I go back to GP because I needed Clomid before so probably need help again? Can pregnancy and birth reset things?!
Anyone had a similar experience?

Can you try for a couple of months and if nothing happens, then ask the GP for clomid again? If your cycles are fairly regular then it does suggest that ovulation might be taking place.

I do have confirmed PCOS and conceived DD after 3 cycles of letrozole (a more modern version of clomid) in 2021. When discussing TTC DD2, my endocrinologist told me to give it a try for a couple of months, do some ovulation tracking if i wanted but not to bother waiting around for long if it didn't happen. She said that a second go with ovulation induction would go much quicker as they wouldn't bother with any investigations first, but would just refer to ACU to be prescribed the drugs as i had taken them before.

The symptoms of PCOS can come and go - there's lots of research around weight / carb intake especially. When my weight gets high, my PCOS gets much worse. I'm struggling to lose the weight after DD1 and it's made a big difference to my symptoms. Could that also be a factor? Perhaps you have been able to improve your symptoms through weight / diet?

@YorkshireTeaCup thanks so much for your reply. Your plan makes sense. As you say I don’t wanna waste time and go through the OPKs and anxiety of it all when it might be I need the drug anyway. Guess I need to be patient a little longer.
I don’t have a problem with my weight as it goes, have weighed the same since early 20s and would be classed as normal/healthy BMI. Previously I exercised I a lot, 5 times a week of intense HIIT training and weighed 8 stone. I thought maybe my extreme exercise regime was causing the problem (I read it can affect periods). After having my son I stopped doing the extreme gym classes and now just walk for exercise as I can’t be bothered to do much more!

@MumofAlfMumofAlf oh interesting about the exercise! My endo consultant goes on A LOT about minimising stress to improve PCOS - which is tricky as i have a highly stressful job! 😬😅 But maybe it's similar with exercise and taking a more laid back approach has helped improve things?

@YorkshireTeaCup ah I feel for you, can be hard to manage stress when it’s out of your control like with your job. I’ll take your advice and try tracking ovulation for a few months, then ask the GP for help
