TTC/ovulation/periods after gallbladder removal

Hi, I had my gallbladder laparoscopically removed almost four months ago and we started TTC a month after my surgery, the surgeon said it was okay to start trying regarding my wounds.
I usually had regular menstrual cycles and now last month it was the longest cycle I've had in over a year and I didn't notice any egg-whitey mucus. The first two cycles after the surgery were textbook 28-29 days though.
I had some of my hormones checked half a year ago, so before gallbladder op and they were fine then. I read on some website that GB removal affects hormones and fertility but it was some alternative medicine stuff so I don't know that I can trust that. That website also said you can have dry skin after the surgery which I did have but now is back to normal.
Has anyone heard about problems TTC because of gallbladder removel or having irregular ovulations because of the GB op or have you yourselves had such experiences?

Hi I had my gallbladder removed a few years ago after the surgery I completely missed a period which I think was due to my body focusing on healing after the surgery (I definitely wasn’t pregnant) I had a heavier period the following month and then all sorted itself out after and periods/ovulation have since returned to normal 😊

Thank you for the info, it's great to hear that it went back for you quickly. To me it was the same with first two, first period two days after the surgery, almost no blood, like a paper cut on a finger.

Second period came normally 28 days later but heavier than usual, like when I was in my early twenties. But third was late and now feeling very different in my fourth cycle, no usual ovulation signs like cervical mucus or any sex drive.

Hi there! Although this doesn't affect me, my mother has to have her gallbladder removed due to a polyp. What was your experience like? I would really appreciate if you shared cos we're both quite worried about the surgery and also the biopsy results. Thank you in advance!

I would speak to you GP lovely and see if there’s anything they suggest. Maybe ask for a referral to endocrine and they can check all your pancreas/liver function etc x

Hi! I had keyhole surgery mine was due to gallstones and gallstone induced pancreatitis (absolute hell). I was really nervous but it was absolutely fine I was in and out within the day recovered within 1-2 weeks taking it easy. Minimal pain just soreness from the keyhole incisions. Felt drowsy for a day or 2 after anaesthetic but it’s literally changed my life for the better. Surgery is always nerve wracking make sure she asks as many questions as she needs to at her pre op assessment. Good luck to your mum 😊
