I was wondering if anyone could shed some light.... firstly sorry for TMI so feel free to scroll and ignore lol.

Just been to the loo and normally on the run up to AF I'm dry. As a general rule I don't get discharge in my underwear ever either.

Today (9dpo) I have creamy white/yellow discharge and as I always do (twice a day every day) did a CM finger test inside and came away with milky stretchy snot... not like EWCM and inside was very, umm, wet (sorry)... could this be a positive sign? Or am I reading too much into it?

Has anyone else had this?

TIA xx

JB2021 · 12/07/2022 15:30

Thanks all!

Unusre how I'm feeling. I was so certain it was going to be postive but also it has happened quite quick for us (first time using SMEP and also will be our first).

Can't get appointment at GP until end of the month. Think I'm about 5 weeks now so that's another 1 or 3 so is that too long.

All new to me....

My2boysaremyworld · 12/07/2022 15:32

@JB2021 you normally see/speak to the midwife at 8 weeks so no hun it's normal xx

JB2021 · 12/07/2022 15:35

@My2boysaremyworld this is just a GP, not midwife. This was the first appointment available.

mamazac · 12/07/2022 15:37

@JB2021 I don't know if it's the same everywhere but when I was pregnant I just had to fill out a form and email it to my local hospital and it was dealt with from there, eliminated the need for a GP appointment. Maybe ask reception at the doctors what the best way to notify pregnancy is at your hospital?

My2boysaremyworld · 12/07/2022 15:43

@JB2021 I never spoke to a GP just the midwife xx

My2boysaremyworld · 12/07/2022 15:44

@JB2021 did the receptionist take any details like last date of period etc? They should pass on ur details to the midwife xx

JB2021 · 12/07/2022 15:52

They asked how far on I thought I was and I said 5 weeks.

This website does say GP or midwife depending where you live. www.nhs.uk/pregnancy/finding-out/your-nhs-pregnancy-journey/

Did say it was my first so don't know process. Wondering if it's worth me trying to call for same day appointment on Thursday (can't do tomorrow due to work)

all they do is refer you to the hospital so I'd say it's worth ringing and ask if that can be done without needing an appointment. this is how it works in London where I'm from so may be different elsewhere

JB2021 · 12/07/2022 16:23

Oh now I'm confused and feel a bit stupid. I thought I'd done the right thing. I did say I didn't know who I needed to see but just found out etc.

Maybe we will go in and speak to someone

mamazac · 12/07/2022 16:25

@JB2021 don't be silly you're fine, I'd just call them and say you've just found out you're pregnant and don't know what to do next and they should be able to help x

JB2021 · 12/07/2022 16:27

@mamazac thanks, that's what I did. Just 5 weeks and next appointment is end of the month so not sure if that will delay everything else...

mamazac · 12/07/2022 16:28

@JB2021 that should be fine then, they may get you booked in there and then rather than arranging a separate appointment for it. I'm sure it will all be fine. No matter when you get booked in you'll still be given appointments for scans at 12 weeks when you're 12 weeks x

JB2021 · 12/07/2022 16:32

@mamazac thanks for the reassurance. I thought I'd done the right thing but also wasn't sure.

Now the debate is so we tell people or select people before the first scan

hevann · 12/07/2022 16:50

@JB2021 Congratulations! 🎉🎊 Wonderful news! xx

hevann · 12/07/2022 16:55

@LucyLoopyLu I'm sorry for the BFN 😢 fingers crossed for this month 🤞🏻 xx

My2boysaremyworld · 12/07/2022 17:23

@JB2021 don't stress you will be on the system as pregnant and the correct person will contact you.

We told family and close friends. It all depends on what you want to do. I wanted to tell everyone xx

Tropicana1 · 12/07/2022 17:49

Congratulations @JB2021 ☺️ don't know how you held off testing so long!

I would double check that you need the gp at all - I had to self refer to my local midwife service and they booked the first appointment for 8 weeks which is the "booking appointment" & they do blood tests etc so if yours is the same in your area your gp appointment would be when you should be seeing the midwife for the first time so might delay things. Maybe ring again and ask if you self refer to the midwife or if they refer you.

JB2021 · 12/07/2022 17:51

@My2boysaremyworld thank you. No friends who live locally are pregnant and some won't be (either had children and don't want more or just dont want)

Planning on telling my parents this weekend and I will tell work, due to covid and lifting etc.

We are unsure on telling brothers (we have 3, one of which has 2 young boys). And considering telling close group of friends each just so we have that support should we need it.

BirdIsland · 12/07/2022 18:36

That's interesting about covid affecting AF @My2boysaremyworld. It's definitely AF that's arrived five days early so that's a bit of a nightmare for an ultrashort luteal phase. I hope it sorts itself out next month!

My2boysaremyworld · 12/07/2022 19:03

@JB2021 I'm glad I told who I did cuz of my outcome from it so we had that support . I nearly told my boys but glad I didn't now. I think I would still tell the same people if we get lucky enough to fall pregnant again. You need to do what's best for the 2 of you. There's no right or wrong way. So happy for you xx

My2boysaremyworld · 12/07/2022 19:03

@BirdIsland yeah it's mad! I remember saying like really I feel like I'm dying and AF has come early too!! Xx

My2boysaremyworld · 12/07/2022 19:04

@BirdIsland hope your not too poorly with it xx

JB2021 · 12/07/2022 19:07

@My2boysaremyworld thank you.

We are going to tell my parents and work (both work) but unsure on others as yet. It won't be until after weekend so we've time to chat and decide

My2boysaremyworld · 12/07/2022 19:08

@JB2021 enjoy the time when it's just the 2 of you knowing. I bet you can't believe it. What did your OH say? Xx
