Cramping at ovulation?

Hi everyone,

Quick question, we are TTC and have had two strong positives on OPK today and yesterday, been DTD for about 7 days now (exhausted but happy hahaha)... Today I've had some fairly bad cramping that I don't usually have during ovulation time. Just wondering if anyone else has had anything similar or had any thoughts? Just hoping it's not a weird month and (very) early out of kilter AF.

We've both had a head cold but assumed that wouldn't affect anything?

Any thoughts much appreciated xxx

Yes I get quite bad ovulation pains every month! It’s called mittelschmerz and very common.

Suemay803 · 29/06/2022 19:51

@3rdtimelucky2022 thank you for taking the time to reply x

I'm maybe just grasping at straws to think of anything right now but the boredom of the inevitable TWW hahaha. The cramping does definitely feel odd though and nothing I remember before.

Maybe to much info but we had a mc 2 years ago with a twin pregnancy at wk 9/10 (2 d and Cs as the first didn't complete it) and then my cycles stopped for nearly 10 months and no one knew why...

Then when they returned they were ALL over the place, I was eventually put back on the combined pill in December for 3 months to help regulate things which seemed to have worked... Just bracing myself for it to all go crazy again! At least all the practise is a bonus hahaha 😊

Sending lots of love xxx

@Suemay803 sorry to hear about your MC and good that your cycles are more regular now.

I’ve only just realised I have ovulation pains.

i came off the pill two years ago, and have been TTC since. I think I have ovulated naturally on 3 occasions (3 months apart) prior to taking 5 cycles of letrozole.

I had a laparoscopy and hysteroscopy after these 5 cycles recently which identified a small about of endometriosis which was apparently removed.

Since I have been off the meds and had the lap, I ovulated naturally again today.

The pain is unbearable, I get shivers, my lower back aches significantly, to the point I can't stand and then 30 mins later my temperature increases and I feel really hot. I didn't realise these were ovulation pains until today when I did a test.

Has anyone had similar pains?

Hi everyone, I had a MC in March and never ever had ovulation pains before this. After I had my MC, I began to get ovulation pains and was so worried, it felt like I had burst my appendix or something (even though that's never happened to me) but the pain was bad and very odd, not even like period pain. I googled and realised it was ovulation pain and some cycles I get it and some I don't. My friend has them all the time. Mine last normally a few hours and need to take pain killers. It is quite common.

Mulner88 · 13/07/2022 17:52

@Spin101 yes I'm the same! I struggle to stand up too and the pain is worse when standing. Thankfully this month I happened to be off work so could lie in bed 🙈

Spin101 · 14/07/2022 20:05

@Mulner88 glad you were off work this time!! I fortunately have been able to work remotely since covid. I honestly don’t know what I would have done otherwise. I don’t ovulate regularly so when I do, it’s a surprise!

PeaceLily2000 · 14/07/2022 20:10

I have had ovulation pain since 2015 (when I was 29) never had it before then but now it is more painful than my period.
I get terrible bloating, an aching pain on the side I have ovulated as well as just feeling completely exhausted.
OP perhaps you've notice as you are more aware of your cycle?
If I'm honest, I found the pain reassuring when TTC.

Olivia199 · 14/07/2022 20:17

So sorry to hear about the MC's. Glad the pill has got things back on track!
So this sounds a bit ridiculous but I never actually knew I had ovulation pain until I started TTC.
I used to occasionally think I was due on (nightmare at keeping track. It was always a random unpleasant surprise!) Only for it to go away and I'd forget all about it until a couple weeks later when it would happen!
But having done IVF I learnt a whole lot about my body and what happens when etc. Since having my little girl I've often thought "Urgh, period pain, must be that time of the month" only to realise it is, in fact, ovulation pain!
So it could well be that you're just noticing it because you're paying such close attention to your cycles.
It could also be that the cervix has taken a bit of .. well.. action lately and is showing its displeasure at the whole process! I had fairly strong cramps after embryo transfer because they'd prodded my cervix a bit much!

Spin101 · 16/07/2022 21:28

@Olivia199 do you mind me asking why you had IVF?

I’ve been told that’s the next best course for me due to think uterine lining and lack of clarity on whether my right tube is blocked (even though I recently had a laparoscopy!)

My biggest concern is my high AMH due to PCOS which means I will overreact to the FSH injections and not sure what the quality of follicles retrieved will be.
