I've just been given a suspected diagnosis of a large endometrioma on my left ovary. I've been referred to gynaecology but been told it could be up to a year before I'm seen.

My concern is, I'm TTC and have been since August. I fell pregnant in Feb and miscarried April. My doctor knows this. She said as I've already got pregnant once, I should have no issues in future. But all my online reading (I know, but I wasn't prepared with questions and she didn't say much) suggests my endometrioma is at least moderate and could impact fertility. I'm 34 and don't want to waste time.

Should I push for a sooner referral? I assume I need to restart the clock on the 'one year without conceiving' so that would be a year off too. I'm just worried about leaving it a year and then finding out i've got dimished ovarian reserve :(

Hi Zoe, I am going through something similar. I am 37, ttc for 2y, one miscarriage. I had a million blood tests done, and also ultrasounds after my miscarriage last year and always things looked normal. My AMH is low (0.72) and definitely have DOR (Last AFC showed 6 follicles). Recently in an ultrasound they discovered 2 suspected endometriomas on my left ovary, one normal cyst (I did not know such a thing exists), then they told me my ovaries are adhered to my uterus and everything is not mobile as it should. In the end they said moderate to severe endometriosis - which is disheartening to hear after doing all the right things and seeing doctors for 7 years+ for severe period pain… Basically my chances are so low. And there are 2 options now: 1) surgery which may deplete my reserve but could help create a better environment for a potential pregnancy; 2) IVF but with very low chances. So my advice is push for a doctor asap. Take care! 🤗

You can be referred to fertility as you have been trying for a year and have a likely medical cause so pursue this. You should continue to try to conceive. .You can't really ask for a Gynae appointment to be expedited as there is no medical urgency and post covid a year is the reality unfortunately.
