Hi
I am a bit confused by fsh levels what are good fsh levels and what would be regarded as elevated.

Had a blood test done a while ago where my fsh was checked and I was told its high.

Could somebody explain to me please.

hi lost essentially the fsh level tells you about whether you are peri menopausal or menopausal normal fsh levels are below 10
the fsh tells the ovaries to release an egg as your egg supply gets low when you are approaching the menopause your fsh level goes up as you need more fsh to get an egg to mature
I was diagnosed as prematurely menopausal at the age of 38 and my fsh was 84
when you say high how high?

Sure someone with lots of info will be along later, but just in case I thought I'd help if I could. FSH levels rise with age, and I gather the higher the level of FSH the more difficult it is to get pregnant.

I know from my IVF clinic that they like levels to be below 10 BUT each clinic likes to do their own tests and has their own way of interpreting numbers, so don't worry if this isn't what you want to hear

My FSH level was 6 two years ago when I was 36, and is now 9.7.

What numbers have you been given?

Hi

I wasn't very up on fsh levels when I was told they were high and it never occured to me to ask how high they was. I am starting to realise what fsh is all about by looking it up on the internet etc.

I am ttc and my af went awol for 3 months I had a blood test done to find out why and it was discovered I had a underactive thyroid.

My doctor put the high fsh level down to the thyroid and didn't think it was menopause.

I am due back at my doctors tomorrow for the results of a latest test to check my thyroid and fsh again so I will be asking this time how high my fsh is.

I am quite worried in case they are really high.

lost thyroid function can really affect fsh so hopefully because your thyroid was underactive your fsh should be back to normal now
good luck tomorrow
