hi ladies, i’m starting my journey in ttc now :) and i have a question. when do you ovulate? ive heard so many people say it's around 2 weeks after your period but my flo app says i ovulate right after my period... i’m going to start using ovulation tests just to be sure but i am curious.... i am aware that it depends on cycle lengths etc mines is usually 24-29 :) so is it days after your period do you ovulate or 2 weeks? any info would be helpful, thanks xxx

The ovulation calculator on here is really good and will hopefully help with dates 🙂

First day of your period is cycle day 1.
The Flo app shows green days two days after period as your heading towards a time where you can ovulate.
Don't count the day you finish your period as day 1.
You see the green dotted circle around a date?
That's the calculated date that you may ovulate. But doing tests is much better/easier to figure out.
The app just goes off dates and cycle length, not always accurate.

Hope this makes sense.

An app can't tell you when you exactly ovulate.

To accurately determine ovulation, and therefore identify your most fertile days (when to have sex), you need to track your cycles with OPKs and/or temping (measuring BBT daily).

Everyone is slightly different.

I ovulate about 2 weeks after my period . However I got pregnant ( by surprise)with my second on my period . I’ve been confused about it for the past two years .

Earlier this year though I noticed one month that I ovulated directly after my period so it must randomly happen to me occasionally. But normally it’s 2 weeks after my period .

Depends how long your cycle is and how long your luteal phase is. Everyone is different and can vary each month too. My cycle is usually 26/27 days and this cycle I think I ovulated today as I peaked yesterday on opk. I’m on CD12 today so looks like this month will be a 26 day cycle

try not to stress with it though as I did last month on my first month doing opk and put my ovulation late which made my period late too and I’m never that late and it was definitely stress of it all that did it

You could have 3 people with 28 day cycles.

One might ovulate on CD14 (14 days after the start of their period) and have a 14 day luteal phase (the time between ovulation and the next period).

Another might ovulate on CD16 and have a 12 day luteal phase.

Another might ovulate on CD18 and have a 10 day luteal phase.

If the 3rd person is assuming ovulation happens on CD14, they might miss their window because in reality they aren't ovulating until 4 days after that.

If you are 24-29 days then each month the day you ovulate may change. The luteal phase is generally the same length but can change by a day or 2.

If you do ovulation tests for a few months you will get to know when you ovulate, might be worth tracking BBT alongside this to confirm ovulation. OPKs don't confirm ovulation just that you have a rise in the hormone which releases the egg so BBT should confirm if ovulation has happened.

Or, if you are up for it and don't want to bother with OPKs and BBT just yet have sex every 2-3 days between CD10 and CD20. If you haven't fallen pregnant in a few months you could look a bit more closely at BBT and OPKs. Depending on how relaxed about it you want to be.
