This question gets right on my tits. I must have been asked about 6 times yesterday at a family party 🤦🏻‍♀️

For anyone else in this position, please feel free to use my new favorite response as it stops then in their tracks:

"What? And be a teen mum!" - sashes away in disgust

Im 35......🤣🤣

🤣🤣🤣
I was at a meeting last week in work, the head of the meeting said to me I'm assuming you have your own kids and know the struggles. My body was bubbling with anger but I was able to smile and said 'well not just yet, I hope to blessed with one very soon after some troubles and a loss' her face dropped and my manager said to me afterwards that I was so polite but that will make her think before saying anything to anyone else.
I've just got to the point when people ask me I just say the above. It's no one's business I know but maybe it will put a stop to people asking that insensitive question as others may not be strong enough to stomach it!

But what you did could be a new one for me 🤣🤣🤣

So frustrating. My in laws ask every single time they see us when we’re having a second 🤦🏼‍♀️

Bobduncan · 05/06/2022 17:27

Agree with you here! I was asked twice a few weeks back a week after a surgically managed MC - luckily I was able to reply without getting upset "im not interested in human babies, i just want a fur baby". It's such a rude and sometimes triggering question - wish people would realise that!

I'm using this next time. Bloody brilliant.

I personally found that telling them the truth stopped them asking. Replying, ' it's not for want of trying'

BiscuitLover3678 · 05/06/2022 18:51

I agree with telling the truth. Normally shuts them up. I also hopes it means they’re more sensitive to others going forward.

Brilliant response!

GingerFox2021 · 05/06/2022 20:21

i started saying the truth and I don’t see a point of hiding anymore..

Cheeseycheeseycheesecheese · 05/06/2022 20:27

We get the "when's the next one coming"
My reply is to check my watch and say "oh, it's late"

Or the truth, we're trying but no success. I'm not concerned (yet) it took 3 years to conceive ds...

GingerbreadTM · 05/06/2022 20:28

I used to just say I'm not ready yet, obviously I was but it always left me in a stinking mood for the rest of that day!
When I was getting my ultrasound in a local hospital on my ovaries to check all was ok a few weeks ago it was full of women with their partners waiting on their antenatal appointments, it left me feeling raw as my partner wasn't allowed in with me.
I am lucky that I am strong enough to brush stuff off at times but I really feel for women who struggle with their mental health around this whole crazy TTC journey xx

Charl881 · 05/06/2022 21:41

I always say ‘when we can afford another £800 a month nursery fees’. Obviously it’s not just that but it does shut them up, especially if I ask if they have the money spare they could give to us.
