Consecutive chemical pregnancies

Charl881 · 27/05/2022 16:10

I had a chemical pregnancy at the end of March. We took a break off trying in April and tried again in May. I got a faint positive on Wednesday but unfortunately started bleeding today and tests have turned negative so another chemical.

Has anyone had two consecutive chemicals and gone on to have a healthy pregnancy?

Worried there could be something causing it since I’d have thought two in a row would be rare.

I am waiting a call back from my GP to see if there is anything they could recommend doing anything differently next cycle.

Sorry to hear about your chemicals ❤️. I have read before that sometimes chemicals can be to do with low progesterone. Although l, it's only stuff I've read online so I'm not 100% sure. Maybe you could ask your GP to prescribe for next time?

Charl881 · 27/05/2022 16:26

Thank you, I’m definitely going to suggest that to them and see what they say. I have a feeling they might not be that helpful as both ended so early.

Both progesterone and low dose aspirin can help in the very very early stages of pregnancy.
The progesterone you would need a prescription for, but you can buy 75mg aspirin tablets easily without one. Might be worth trying that if you're still TTC next cycle. It's can't harm but might help!
At least you'll be "doing something", I know the feeling. 🤗

Charl881 · 27/05/2022 17:07

I did wonder about aspirin, I had done a bit of googling on it and planned to do more, thank you. I think I might try it next cycle and see. In some ways I’m relieved because I thought our issue was conceiving, now I know we can conceive at least I feel like there is more that can be done.

I do have one DS, took 13 months to conceive him and not aware I had any chemicals with him but also I wasn’t as obsessive with testing so could have happened without me knowing.

Hope you're ok @Charl881 I'm so sorry to read that.
Is your cycle and luteal phase a normal length? And regular?

Pollywoddles · 28/05/2022 06:41

I’d also recommend getting your lining checked during your cycle to make sure it’s thick enough to sustain a pregnancy. This was the cause of at least one of my chemicals. Oestrogen from ovulation sorted me out. I was also on Aspirin and progesterone due to previous miscarriages.

Charl881 · 28/05/2022 08:22

@blueberry23 yeah cycles are very regular and normal length (28 days usually but have been 30 recently with chemicals), luetal phase is 12 days. Spoke to a GP last night who said they would do bloods so that’s a start!

@Pollywoddles how does your lining get checked, is that some sort of scan?

OP posts:
Pollywoddles · 28/05/2022 10:47

@Charl881 Yes, an ultrasound.

Waitingonamiracle · 28/05/2022 22:36

I have had 3 chemicals in the last 6 months. I had no issues conceiving DS and no problems during pregnancy (apart from nausea the whole way through-even vomited in labour lol)
I have had blood tests and all normal. Next thing is a hormone check but have to wait until day cd25 for that and have to wait for AF as haven’t had one since last chemical start of May.
I have also been referred to gynae. Hope you make some progress with your GPS @Charl881

Charl881 · 28/05/2022 22:47

@Waitingonamiracle sorry to hear you’re going through this too! I’m getting day 3 and day 21 bloods done too but not until cycle after this one now due to timing. I’ve been driving myself mad googling different things but realised now all I can do is wait until those blood tests and go from there. I definitely see it as a good thing that you know you can get pregnant and you have in the past carried to full term, I’d like to think that if there is anything wrong with us then it is something that can be sorted easily. I really do feel your pain though, it’s so frustrating when all you want is to give your DC a brother or sister and your body keeps letting you down.

Waitingonamiracle · 28/05/2022 22:54

@Charl881 Do you know the significance of day 3 and 21? Is that hormone testing also? I couldn’t resist ovulation testing after my chemical ended and I’m currently 9dpo with terrible nausea.
not sure I could handle the anxiety of getting another BFP-I never gave it a second thought when pregnant with DS.
I got a referral after 3 chemicals as classed a recurrent, with hopefully you wont need 🤞🏻

Waitingonamiracle · 29/05/2022 20:08

I tested this evening and got my BFP 10dpo cd27. Obviously feel very anxious after previously CP…the wait begins x

Charl881 · 29/05/2022 21:23

Oh my gosh @Waitingonamiracle what a scary and exciting time for you… please do keep me updated. Can completely understand how you feel. Really hoping this is your sticky one.

apparently my blood tests are for hormones?

I’m going to start trying a few different things this cycle anyway.

OP posts:
Waitingonamiracle · 29/05/2022 21:39

@Charl881 my last CP last until cd42, so I have a long and anxious wait ahead of me. I am so nauseous though so I’m hoping that’s only a good sign. Going to rest and relax.

any tips for helping with sticky baby?

Charl881 · 30/05/2022 20:28

I’ve heard aspirin can help but might be worth checking with your GP! If I were you I’d also be eating super healthy and resting lots but that is just me being paranoid after my last two, I know it probably doesn’t make a difference. Please keep me updated, really hoping for a positive outcome for you!

OP posts:
Waitingonamiracle · 30/05/2022 20:55

@Charl881 Aww I know, it’s so hard to not overthink everything. The logical part of my brain knows that apart from taking my vitamins and being healthy, very little else I can do.
when I was pregnant with DS, I was so sick I could barely eat, drank full fat, full caffeine coke everyday, had a minor car accident 1st trimester and was in the middle of stressful house renovation. Those little beans just stick it out when they are meant too. I will keep you updated, fc.

Charl881 · 04/06/2022 13:55

@Waitingonamiracle how are you doing?

OP posts:
Waitingonamiracle · 04/06/2022 14:44

Still testing positive, 16dpo today. Lines are getting darker each day. Cd33 and lost my last at cd42, so still an anxious week ahead.
Have you been for any tests yet?

Charl881 · 05/06/2022 12:32

@Waitingonamiracle that’s good they’re getting stronger though can of course understand how you can’t relax yet. I’m feeling really positive for you!

No tests yet, they wanted to do them on certain cycle days which then didn’t work out with bank holiday etc so that will be next cycle. I’m going to try taking baby aspirin this cycle and I’ve upped my vitamins in case I do fall straight away.

OP posts:
Waitingonamiracle · 05/06/2022 13:06

@Charl881 That’s a pain about the test days. Each day I feel a little bit more excited but trying to keep calm at the same time.

I've been taking pregnacare since by last CP. If something happens I will definitely be taking a month off!

leaving a sample in at GP tomorrow to confirm. I left a sample in last Monday, but it came back ‘inconclusive’-cbd are so much more sensitive than the basic strip ones the drs use lol

SarahShorty · 05/06/2022 16:12

@Charl881 you poor thing. It's horrible, I know. My second cycle ended like that. I didn't know until AF came because the flow was different, without being TMI, it just wasn't a normal period. Then, as if that wasn't enough, I still had leftover HCG and I felt nauseas around CD10, 3 days after AF ended. It's just rotten. I have no advice to impart as I'm still quite new to this myself. My best wishes to you 🌺xx

Waitingonamiracle · 06/06/2022 22:03

17dpo today. Results from the GP tomorrow. Very nervous 😬

Theawkwardblonde · 06/06/2022 22:20

@Charl881 I've had two consecutive chemicals and a (brutal) miscarriage. Now have a DD who is 5 months. I took low dose baby aspirin which may or may not have helped, but it can't hall to try. Best of luck.
