No LH surge

Looking for advice as can't find much by researching and don't want to see the gp just yet.

Stopped withdrawal as a form of contraception in Jan, haven't fallen preg yet. So started testing LH, I had very faint lines the first half of the month, then no lines for a few days.

I've taken this as no LH surge.

Period has come, again 😒

However the last 4 months periods have gone to 3 days with the most jelly like consistency (tmi sorry).

I'm 38 and feel like I will be blessed with my little girl and no more.

Is it possible for LH not to surge? Is it a sign of menopause?

Could be that you aren't ovulating you should book an appointment to have it investigated no point wasting time imo

Thanks.

How do they test that?

Could be that you ovulated later, or missed the surge. GP can confirm ovulation with a blood test.

It’s very simple to test ovulation OP, you measure your basal temp every morning, you will see a consistent temp before ovulation and then once you’ve ovulated you’ll see a rise in the temp which will sustain until the day your period comes. If your temp doesn’t rise then you haven’t ovulated.

or the Doctor would just send you for some bloods. They take blood at day 21 of your cycle and they will be able to tell from that if you have ovulated.

Make an appointment with your GP, tell them you’ve been trying for 6 months and would like the day 3 and day 21 blood tests done.

Hopefully it will confirm ovulation but if it doesn’t there is a medication they can prescribe through the assisted conception unit called Clomid.

But don’t get ahead of yourself and start worrying, if your cycles are regular and you get egg white cm then that’s a good sign. You could have easily missed the surge by just taking OPK at the wrong time of day.

don’t panic, keep using OPKs and maybe look into measuring your basal temp for a month and make a GP appointment anyway. It always helps to have a plan!

Thank you. Getting worried due to age, and changes to period.

I will do my temps and make an appointment at the GP.

I do tend to be very hot two days before my period, could that be my surge or just the period?
