A thread about long luteal phases and having to wait until 12dpo to test

Any other long luteal phases out there who would like to share solidarity at having to wait aaaages to test with a FRER?

Mine is 16 days, so according to the FRER box (testing five days before the day of your missed period), I have to wait until 12dpo to test, and even then it’s only 76% accurate!

Meanwhile those lucky ladies with a 12 day luteal phase on here get to test from 8dpoGrin

To be honest I think you can test as early as everyone else, surely? If you ovulate on a particular day, having a longer luteal phase doesn't mean your fertilised egg takes much longer to travel down and implant.

There's not much point in anyone testing at, say, 6DPO or whatever, but plenty get positives on a FRER at 9/10/11dpo.

The FRER say "6 days sooner" but this is based on an "average" 14 day luteal phase - so 9DPO.

Implantation occurs around 6-10 DPO and then there's another 2 days for tests to pick up the pregnancy hormone. I don't think a longer luteal phase will change that.

So feel free to test from 8DPO although waiting till 12DPO will probably give you a stronger line if you are pregnant and you'll spend less on tests and probably squint a lot less too!
