Conception

When's the best time to get pregnant? Use our interactive ovulation calculator to work out when you're most fertile and most likely to conceive.

If you know exactly when you conceived, how many days after your period was it?

Sorry if TMI, but I'm thinking of ditching all the ovulation testing etc and just TTC during my two periods, and just wondering when it happened for others?

My cycles are very irregular so it varied each time but my LP remained ten days. I get horrible ovulation pain so I always needed to do my best to have sec just beforehand as it was too painful at the time.

How long are your cycles? I would work backwards and expect to ovulate anywhere between 20/18 to 10 days before your period is due. Focus on this week.

It’ll be different for everyone, though: you need to have sex when it works for YOUR fertile period, not mine. Instead of OPKs the two things that are meant to work best are: sex every two days throughout your cycle (who has the time). Doing it on the days you notice most EWCM and feel randiest. You can increase EWCM by taking evening primrose oil, but you need to stop taking it after ovulation – generally look out for the day you stop wanting to climb DP like a tree, and start acting like an angry bear.

Ovulation can happen at any time during your cycle, if you are ovulating.

Your LP usually doesn't change so count 14 days backwards from when your period starts that would be around when you ovulated.

Also your other "fertile" signs can help you pin point such as cervical mucus, being like egg whites and stretchy, your cervical position if you check that, things like cramps or ovary twinges etc (get to know your own body) OPKs are a good tool if you don't have any issues like PCOS, testing more than once a day let's say 1pm & 6pm should help you catch the LH surge before you ovulate.

I totally recommend learning to chart your BBT when ttc, it's so helpful 😀 good luck

Everyone's different, cycles totally vary. If ovulation tests aren't working for you then one option could just be to try every day (not always possible/practical I know, but if you can it'll be a good way to ensure you've tried on the best days). Good luck x x x

As previous poster said if you aren't using OPKs then you're best off just DTD regularly and hope for the best! You could always just use OPKs for a couple of cycles get an idea of when it may be then ditch them and work around that? I have a regular cycle but ovulate day 16/17 and have a short LP, it really does vary so much.

Good luck!

Everybody is so different that this isn't going to help! I think I'm unusual but just to show that there is no average🤷I've always had quite a long cycle say about 31-32 days but know for a fact that I got pregnant with my last on day 8 ie only a day after my usual 7 day period ended (one off event🤦). Which led me to realise that my first was most probably only a couple of days after period finished also but there were two options with that one. Would explain why he came out with all the dry skin you get on well overdue babies. Good luck🍀

Baby 1, I don't remember exactly but approx cylce day 10. I was working away for a week over my 'fertile period'

Baby 2, cycle day 3.

I ovulate day 15 (its like clockwork and I get distinctive pain). Yes, the timings for baby 2 don't make sense, but its what happened 🤷
