Removing implant and time frame help!

I'm thinking of removing my implant as I've heard that the hormones getting out of your system can take a while, and being 35 now, I feel I am running out of time to be able to conceive again?
Anyone have any own experiences on.removing the implant and how long they took to conceive?
Thank you in advance! Xx

Your fertility should return quite soon after having the implant removed. I think it took about 5 months for me to fall pregnant after removing mine, which is pretty normal for TTC.

Aww OK, thank you! I was assuming it would be up to a year and with time not on my side with age and then waiting on fertility to return, I am panicking about it being removed now.. lol xx

It took me 6 Months after removal to become pregnant

Alice1608 · 27/04/2022 14:27

Aww OK, so that's roughly the time frame I'm hopefully looking at then..I mean it's up to a year right? So could be longer too? Xxx

I’ve had 2.
One put in at 17, removed when I got married at 19 - I fell pregnant the same month it was removed, without having a period beforehand.
Had another put in when DC1 was a few months old. Suffered some nasty side effects so had it removed when she was 7 months old. Again, fell pregnant within a month.

I had a dc 9 months and 10 days post removal.. No period first! Was a shocker although was ttc. I was 32

Alice1608 · 27/04/2022 14:41

O goodness! Both of you were so quick!! Were you prepared for this?! Xxx

It took 7 months for me to get my first period after removal, then another 3 months for the second. So 10 months post removal I'm still not pregnant.
It's different for everyone but I would suggest getting it out asap and using condoms for now to give your body time to adjust and settle into regular cycles.

Alice1608 · 27/04/2022 15:01

Yes this is what I was thinking. Another part of me was just thinking we should just behave like normal though and just see what happens? As whatever does, is meant to be? Xx

Not remotely prepared 😂 First time around, I was expecting it to take a month or two for my body to regulate itself.
Second time I should have known better, but genuinely wasn’t expecting it again that quick! Thought the first one was a fluke 😂

Alice1608 · 27/04/2022 16:25

I mean I'm worried (and scared) that we would not be able to live on the statutory maternity which is all my company offer and if it was within the month, we would be buggered! Lol xx

Had mine removed end of Feb, I asked the nurse what to expect and he said a normal 28 day cycle, which surprised me as I have heard of people taking ages. Had a 26 and a 27 day cycle so far, signs of ovulation in both. Not yet conceived but have been actively avoiding fertile window!
I’d been on it for 7 years and the pill for 7 before that.

Alice1608 · 27/04/2022 16:54

So you're off to adjust your body until you are ready? Xx

Yep but am now TTC this cycle, I didn’t want a 2022 due date due to work commitments so held off for two cycles.

If you’re considering getting it removed I’d start looking at appointments - it was a 2 month wait on the NHS near me, I ended up going private as I really wanted some time to see what happened with my cycle as I’d been on contraception since my teens.

Clairey3010 · 27/04/2022 18:09

I echo what amber17 said, I had to wait 3 months to have mine removed although it had already expired in Jan. I conceived the first month after having it out with both of my DC, im now on first cycle trying for a 3rd, also 35 😊

Aww OK! Fair enough and a good thing to be practical. I want to come off yes and awarded the process by waiting and going on a waiting list yesterday with NHS. However I don't want to TTC straight away, it's more to adjust my cycle and hormones etc, for when we are ready. However I'm worried it will be quick potentially and then we won't be ready yet.. but then I don't want to wait and lose our window.. xx

So implant is officially removed! And I'm taking folic acid (before it was removed actually).. anything else I should be doing? Stocking up on pregnancy tests? Is there a cheap solution to mass buying at £9 a go? Lol xxx
