Ovulating twice a month - still breastfeeding & pcos

We're trying for another baby. Breastfeeding my 3 year old and have moderate pcos.

Recently my periods restarted though irregular like before. This and last month symptoms wise I fe like I have ovulated twice, days 22 and 27, constantly horny. Cycle usually 32-37 days.

Had anyone experienced something like this and did you manage to get pregnant, or did you find it wasn't really ovulation?

It's not possible to ovulate twice before a period. Its your body making two attempts at ovulation . In PCOS, people often see their body making a few goes at ovulating eg fertile mucus, temp trending up. If you're lucky your body then manages to ovulate one of these times. If you're unlucky (me) it never manages to make it happen.

Thanks. I knew it didn't ovulate twice but I wasn't sure what was actually happening. That makes sense and explains why there is such a gap between each of my periods. Maybe I need to avoid stress at this time . I tend to get too much energy at this time and try to take advantage of it at work but might have postponed ovulation last time.

Sorry to hear it doesn't happen for you 😞. I saw a nutitionalist and read PCOS protocol which helped my periods regulate to some degree but I appreciate everyone has different challenges.

Thanks again for replying ❤️

I hope the info was helpful @MiniHouse. It might help to know that the time between ovulation and period starting (unless prego) is fixed - usually between 10 and 16 days. So when you have variable cycles, the bit that varies is how long it takes to ovulate.

If you are unlucky and don't ovulate at all, your body can still induce a period but my understanding is those cycles would usually be much longer. Mine are around 70 but have been as long as 161

Thanks. I see. I went through a phase of about a year with long cycles like that (as I was underweight and really stressed) so I know what you mean. As my cycles now are usually 32-37 days it looks like I do ovulate (I have one child conceived when my cycles were equally irregular). Thanks so much. I'm glad I know this because I didn't know when to focus on the baby dance. But I get it would make sense to try for each potential ovulation. 😊

I would imagine you had an LH surge that didn’t quite trigger the egg, and then another a few days later that worked. Really common with PCOS.
