I have booked an appointment with Mr. Masoud Afnan the fetility expert what test should I ask for as my increased age and my partners problems add to the fact of not getting pregnant after three pregnancies and including one at 22weeks. This is our make or break year
thanks for reading

Semen analysis for men.

For women - day 3 bloods (FSH, LH, estradiol, prolactin), thyroid hormones, AMH if you're over 35, midcycle ultrasound scan, 7dpo progesterone level, HSG (to check for tubal patency). Possibly hysteroscopy or laparoscopy depending on history. With a history of pregnancy losses I'd also want karyotyping on both partners & clotting studies.

I'm sorry for your losses.

Thanks notmyrtle.. ekk sounds alot of tests for the woman and one for the man.
I was worried He would have to do more. I said to him after what Ive been through Im sure you could suffer some tests and it turns out not to many !.

I want to try accupunture aswell and maybe the nourish fertilty system ( vitamins)
I also heard that progsterone (sp?) cream can help fertility. Not sure if it worked for anyone

Depends on whether he turns out to have problems! He could have ultrasound to detect blockages, and blood tests (for hormone levels). By the way, a single sperm analysis is a pretty poor way of assessing male fertility, it's much better to have at least two.
I also did a "fertility diet" that helped me on my 8th (!) round of treatment. It might have been a coincidence that that was the month that I conceived, but it's based on scientific evidence and healthy, so no downsides -
Healthy fats - oily fish/flaxseed
Vitamins - fruit, vegetables and lot of smoothies
Anti-oxidants - all the above, plus green tea and brazil nuts (selenium)
I hope that everything works out well for you.

Thank you MrsTittleMouse ( great name) . Wonderful that you had success at last was it a specially named diet or did you just lean to healthly foods. I did see that porgramme with Vic Reeves that smoothies made alot of difference to male sperm. Willling to give anything a go that will make a difference.

Not myrtle - what's the AMH test? I've heard of all the others, and had most of them, but as I'm now 42 with lots of miscarriages, just wondered if it would be valuable...

Hi brookeslay,
It was a diet from the American infertility support group called Resolve (I got it from the website). It gave links to all the scientific studies, but I didn't bother with those if I'm honest. The studies usually looked at an increase in fertility using only one extra component (like the smoothie one on the BBC programme) so I reckoned that doing the lot must be of some help! And like I say, even if it was just coincidence, it was a good healthy diet, and I felt much better because I was actively doing something to help myself.
Bum! Just checked out the website, and they've dumbed down the page - no scientific studies, just the importance of fruit and vegetables and whole grains. Oh well, all that other stuff was on there before, honest!
Keeping my fingers crossed for you.

Dear Mrs TittleMouse very kind of you to look up the info for me on that website. I am going to do a nutrition questionnaire and and three day food diary via a nutritionist, then doing a phone consultation to discuss results. I feel optimistic and crossing my fingers too!!
