As in the title really. Is there any evidence that alcohol could negatively affect implantation?

My experience is I tried for years to get pregnant and abstained from alcohol for a bit. Decided was never going to happen, got pregnant, went drinking and got pretty hammered. Found out a week later I was 2-3 weeks gone. Didn't affect DD who's now a happy, healthy, full of beans 9 yo. I felt extremely guilty though.

I wouldn't binge drink, but I'd have a glass of wine or two if I fancied it. But then again, I'm pregnant at the moment and would have a glass of wine now if I really fancied it so I'm probably not the person to ask (FWIW I haven't had alcohol while being pregnant, but I don't drink often anyway).

There is some scientific evidence that alcohol negatively impacts implantation, but the effect size is small.

I did! Went to a festival, had an amazing time and found out I was pregnant a week later!

I went on a weekend bender found out I was pregnant with DS1 a week and a bit later. It's fine go enjoy yourself.

jamsandwich1 · 17/04/2022 08:53

It’s fine, did it with both

I did, with my Son we had been trying for 2 years. Stopped actively trying for a month because we were going on holiday and we had only had sex once with the way my Partner's shifts were (he works away) - looking back I'd have been about 3/4 DPO. I spent the full week on holiday drinking and relaxing then found out I was pregnant a week after I got back.

I'm pregnant with my second, this time was unplanned but again, id had a couple of nights out round about the time I'd have conceived between birthdays and halloween and I'm nearly 28 weeks with a healthy baby!

Don't worry about it at 4DPO - different if you knew you were pregnant but at that stage you don't know what will happen, enjoy yourself

Think how many people get pregnant due to boozy nights out and holidays...I'm not convinced drinking in the 2ww makes a blind bit of difference!

I got pregnant during a boozy weekend first time and 2nd time I had a single drink a couple of days after finding out I was pregnant (don't usually do this but I figured i was so early some people might not even realise they were pregnant!) both healthy babies.

9 months trying, the one month I thought 'sod it, I can't keep life on hold' & drunk whilst In a hot tub all week.. BFP 5 days later & now have a 4 month old asleep next to me 🙌🏼

CSR721 · 18/04/2022 06:59

Similar to @boymamax I was good for months and nothing, month of my bfp we were on holiday so thought sod it. All fine so far x

No one really knows for sure but i would have a few drinks if i were you. Don't put your life on hold for TTC. It can become stressful and all-consuming. If you're lucky, you'll concieve straight away and may regret not taking the chance to have fun.

We have been TTC for a year Sad

The investigations indicate we should have no issue conceiving but obviously something is going wrong somewhere...

I know it's hard to believe now when you're in the middle of it but lots of people do conceive naturally after more than a year. Even two healthy people only have a small chance to conceive each month.

My Partner and I were TTC for 2 years before we finally got pregnant with our Son, we'd had one MC before that after 18 months TTC. Neither of us had any known problems (we weren't able to see a doctor with covid etc) and we conceived without any help. The one month we did finally conceive our Son we only actually had sex once that month and didn't track ovulation as my DP had been working away then we went on holiday 2 days after. It's such a cliche but it really does happen when you least expect it
