Hi
I have been ttc since August 07.
When I first started ttc my af decided to go awol and was absent for over 3 months.

It was discovered I have a underactive thyroid in a blood test and my gp put my absent af down to that.

I am now on thyroxine and my af turned up suddenly last month after the long absence.

I am now on cycle day 32 and no sign of af again so not sure if this is going to be another long absence.

I feel I don't want to test as I cannot bear going through what I went through last time carrying out loads of tests and always getting a bfn it really upset me.

Do you think I am right to not test and wait for my body to shout it out.
My only worry would be that my job involves heavy lifting.
Does anybody know what risk that carries in early pregnancy.

Bloody hell, I thought for a moment I'd written that!

I've also been TTC since Aug 07, Hypo-active thyroid, 3 month wait for AF which turned up last month! - although been on thyroxine for a few years now so that's not the prob.
I'm on CD16 now and got very frustrated doing loads of tests last cycle while waiting for AF to turn up and also worried I could be in for another long cycle.

I think if your job involves heavy lifting, I would still do tests. Do you know if and when you're ovulating and all that?

Hi

I thought that maybe I was the only one going through this its nice to know I have found someone to talk to.

I really don't know when I ovulate I started ttc without all of the charting, and plotting, and just figured if I have sex every other night I will strike lucky somewhere.

It worked for me last time but then again I was alot younger then.

Not sure how long I have had the thyroid problem but what I have never been able to get my head around is why cycle went awol as soon as I started ttc.

It had never done this before.

Mothere nature is such a tease! It's just sod's law for your AF to go AWOL just when you start TTC.
What i've done is to start paying attention to - TMI ALERT - Cervical mucus. It's gross but if you dont notice any, go in and grab some
It might give you a sort of idea to begin with where about's you are. If you don't know what it's supposed to look like at what tme then I'm sure I can find a link for you or you could try googling it.
Is this your first time TTC?

How did you get on at your doctor's appointment yesterday, zez? What did he think about your lack of AF? Has he given any indication regarding how long the thyroxine will take to have an effect? Does he think your lack of AF is still to do with your underactive thyroid?

FWIW I think that, if you can bear it, you should take a test. At least you will know whether to rule out pregnancy as the reason for your lack of AF and also whether you should be doing that heavy lifting! I appreciate that you're concerned about getting a BFN and don't want to go through that but I think that just doing one test at this stage will help you to gain some clarity and think about how to move forward. For example, if you do get a BFN, at least you'll know that you'll have to see your GP again so that he can do some more investigative work to find out what's causing the lack of AF. You also won't have to worry about carrying out your job and day to day stuff like that.

HTH

Hi
FruitLoop79

What should I be looking out for with the cervical mucus business if you can find me a link that would be great.

It isn't my first time ttc I already have 7 year old ds but I concieved him without any plotting or charting.

Hi as well to
FurtivelyPosting

I won't see my doctor until next week once the results of the latest blood test are back.
I feel I have such a lot to ask I don't know where to start.

They were only going to check my thyroid this time but I told the nurse that took the blood that I also want my hormones such as FSH and LH looking at again.
The last test that detected my thyroid problem also showed that I had a high fsh and I want that checked again.

As for doing a test I totally agree with what you say but if I see a bfn I will sink into a depression.

I am wondering if the blood test I am having done will detect a pregnancy or do they have to specifically be testing for pregnancy.
