Clearblue ovulation endless flashing smileys

Hi everyone. I'm 40 and this is my first time TTC and I've started using the clearblue ovulation tests. But I've been getting a smiley flashing face for 6 days now. As far as I'm aware i generally do ovulate (confirmed by scans in the past) and have pretty regular cycles 26-29 days.
On looking at the test after ejecting it the line definitely isn't anywhere near as dark as the control line so doesn't even look like it's getting close.
We're trying every other day anyway but just wondered if this is normal for these tests and if I should persevere with them or chuck them away!
At 40 in well aware there isn't any time to waste and the chances are slim anyway so I'm trying to do everything needed!
Had a fertility MOT done in January and AMH was 9.5pmol/L and AFC was 20 so we're giving it 6 months of natural trying before potentially moving on to treatment at a clinic.

I find the basic strip tests much easier to read and believe they give a better indication of when you are miles out or getting close. I too had the cb tests and have since moved to the easy @ home strips. I find using the app which reads how close you are to peaking in actual numbers (from pics you upload) is better for me.

Good luck xxx 😘

Hello @Cofefefe I always get atleast 8 days of flashing before a static (once I got 10 days). The flashing detects estrogen and the static is detecting LH so for some people you do just get lots of flashing outside of the fertile window and during the fertile window before a static unfortunately.

I use both now the easy@home opk strips and the clear blue. I start using the clear blue once the lines start getting darker on the opks as it means buying less clear blue and also less annoying little faces flashing at me lol!

I find I get my static the day before I get my peak on the easy@home so I think the clear blue perhaps as a little more sensitive so I like to use both to try and catch more days.

Good luck! Smile

I’m 30 (31 this year) ttc number 1 and no previous pregnancies if that matters x

Have you only tested every time with morning wee? They are super sensitive.

Hi,

Just to reassure you last month I had 10 days of flashing before my static smiley! It was my first month using them! It will come I would persevere. This month i had no flashing just 3 blank circles then straight to static so it varies clearly each month.

I got to day 11 before a static and ovulated two days later than normal. Wouldn’t have known without those tests and the result is asleep next to me, nearly 15 weeks old. Have faith in them! Also it’s not a control and test line they’re two different test lines for the two hormones it looks at. Good luck! Remember the more you use the same handset the more it gets used to you and your results too.

@Cofefefe - yes this is pretty normal. Btw agree no time to waste - I'm in a similar position but as for your chances of conceiving naturally being slim - I don't think that's the case. Don't believe all the stats online - apparently they're from really old and possibly flawed data. Of course fertility decreases with age and eggs cannot be renewed but at 40 you still have a good chance if you track your cycles as you're doing and live a healthy lifestyle. Good luck.

Thanks everyone! I finally got a static smiley so that was good!
I definitely ovulate a few days later than I assumed I would (this month at least anyway).
