Fobbed off by doctor (TW miscarriage)

I recently posted about my chemical pregnancy. I decided to speak to my GP as this was my third loss (a MMC at dating scan and two chemical pregnancies). She said that she can't class the chemical pregnancies as a loss as the pregnancy test wasn't done by the surgery and she has no evidence it was real or not.

Her tone was upsetting in itself but I get that might just be her manner. I just didn't expect to need to get a blood test each time as they did not care at all when I was pregnant the first time and said to self refer to the midwife.

Have I been fobbed off? How can I get them to take the losses seriously so I can start investigations? Or am I the one being daft and chemical pregnancies are not seen as miscarriages and I'll have to wait until I hit the year mark with no pregnancy (from the GPs point of view)?

It’s not routine for doctors surgeries to do pregnancy tests themselves when there’s no other issues is there? Maybe others will be able to confirm . Therefore this doesn’t seem to make sense

It sounds like bollocks to me frankly. I’ve been pregnant five times and haven’t ever had a test by the gp. Self refer via your local early pregnancy unit to the recurrent miscarriage service. I’m so sorry for your losses xxx

I've had 4 mc. Only 3 of those were chemicals and not confirmed by anyone other than me. My GP referred me to the London recurrent miscarriage clinic based on that alone. Defo being fobbed off x

@LaForza101
Agreed. The GP was wrong. I'd go back. Also depending on your age you may only need 2 to be referred. I was over 40 and got referred to the reoccurant miscarriage clinic after my second miscarriage. Although tbh they weren't helpful.

Thanks everyone

Urgh why is anything medical related such a Kafka-esque nightmare atm? I'm now going to have to battle the receptionist triage system tomorrow to try and get another appointment

Could you contact your local hospital directly and remove the gp from the process entirely? I’ve had three m/c and the gp wasn’t involved.

Good point @FrangipanFlower. I'll try and ring the EPU
