Hello

I was an "active" MNer in the summer around my miscarriage but went quiet for a few months when I was struggling with the TTC post MC process.

I was diagnosed with Asherman's (my uterus healed wrong after my D&C in July and was effectively closed up!) and endo early December. Had one operation to fix things but not sure whether I will recover fully. Next operation due on 21st January and I am very scared of what they will tell me already.

My endo is only mild so it is not my main worry, Asherman's is because mine was "severe". Has anyone had this and has gone on to have succesful pregancies?

Hi

I have Asherman's and I am in my final bit of treatment (hopefully) for it. I have had two hysteroscopy operations with laser removal, each followed by hormone treatment. I am due to have an HSG scan later this month and return to see my consultant in March where I find out what happens next, or how successful the treatment has been. I do have a thread on here somewhere about it.

I have friends here at present but will be back online later this evening and will post more.

My Asherman' was also severe apparently, so can swap info

There is a Ashemans Uk Yahoo group here

Hi Hulababy!

I am so glad you got in touch, I did see your posts with Martianbishop back in January of last year and was wondering how to get in touch with you to find out how you are doing now. Thanks for the yahoo group, I will check it out!

I am pleased to hear that you are now near the end of your treatment!

It does sound like we are in similar positions so we can give each other some support.

I see on your profile that you are in Sheffield, I live in Maidenhead in Berkshire but my consultant is in Kingston upon Thames in Surrey. It takes us over an hour every time we need to go and see him or when I have operations but he's been totally amazing so it's worth well the trip. I actually found him on the recommendation of a friend and I am really pleased I did, he diagnosed me with Asherman's and Endo the very first time I described my symtoms to him.

I had my first hysteroscopy and lap&dye on 10th December and he found that most of my uterus was closed up, all of it apart from about the size of a pencil width on the left side. My left tube was blocked off as a result too. He took some pictures during my operation and it was very surreal to see the inside of my uterus and I saw how he seperated the two sides of my uterus. He has put me on course of oestrogen (Premarin) and I am due to go back for another hysteroscopy at the end of this month (either on 21st or 28th, I should found out next week). During that op he will remove the IUD and also cut any small remaining adhesions but he reckons I should be completely back to normal after that and I will also stop taking the oestrogen at that point.

So all in all, my treatment from diagnosis will only have been about 2 months (diagnosis on 1st Dec, first op on 10th, on oestrogen for 6 weeks then second op on 21st/28th Jan). Sounds like your treatment is taking or has taken much longer than mine, is it much different? I also remember martianbishop saying that she had been put on HRT for one year, which is really different from me (only 6 weeks).

Anyway, this is turning into the longer post in MN history!

Let me know how you are getting on
It's great to be in touch with you!

Have you gone private? Is that how you have been seen so quickly?

I used NHS for it but have been very lucky as my consultant is really really good. He is very knowledgeable about Ashermans and has written papers on it.

I saw my GP back in June 2006. I saw a consultant in August/September 2006 who referred me for more tests inc a scan. I was also given a course of progestegon to see whether it would do anything. I then saw my proper consultant in Novemner 2006 who immediately diagnnosed Ashermans. I was put on his waiting list for a hysteroscopy.

I had my first hysterosopy under GA at the end of August 2007 (my first app was cancelled sadly) where they dealt with half the adhesions. Apparently almost all of the top of my uterus was covered/affected.

Following the first op I had 4 weeks of 6mg oestrogen, with 10mg progesteron for the final 10 days. I noticed no chance in symptoms after the first op. I was off work for 6 weeks due to the affects of the hormones on my body/emotions (work in a male prison so have to be tip top condition to be in work).

I had my second op on 30 November 2007. The consultant thinks he has managed to remove all adhesions now. This has been followed by 6 weeks of 6mg oestrogen, with the final 2 weeks als taking 10mg progesteron. I have 7 more days of hormones to go. I am still off work, and my GP gave me another medical letter for 4 weeks at the start of this week.

This month I will have a HSG scan. I phone the hospital on day 1 of my next cycle and will have the scan within the first 10 days of my cycle.

I then see the consultant again on March 6th 2008 to discuss the outcome of the ops/scan and any next steps.

I was also diagnosed with probable cervical stenosis, but the same op should have sorted this out. Certainly it hasn't been mentioned since the first op.

Now, my overiding desire following the ops is to be able to have a second child - I really hope it might help. And obviously removing the intense pain I have had every month for the past few years will be fantastic too!

BTW if easier please feel free to contact me off board on claire.king13(at)btinternet.com

I also saw the photos of inside my uterus - very strange to see!
