Have you gone private? Is that how you have been seen so quickly?
I used NHS for it but have been very lucky as my consultant is really really good. He is very knowledgeable about Ashermans and has written papers on it.
I saw my GP back in June 2006. I saw a consultant in August/September 2006 who referred me for more tests inc a scan. I was also given a course of progestegon to see whether it would do anything. I then saw my proper consultant in Novemner 2006 who immediately diagnnosed Ashermans. I was put on his waiting list for a hysteroscopy.
I had my first hysterosopy under GA at the end of August 2007 (my first app was cancelled sadly) where they dealt with half the adhesions. Apparently almost all of the top of my uterus was covered/affected.
Following the first op I had 4 weeks of 6mg oestrogen, with 10mg progesteron for the final 10 days. I noticed no chance in symptoms after the first op. I was off work for 6 weeks due to the affects of the hormones on my body/emotions (work in a male prison so have to be tip top condition to be in work).
I had my second op on 30 November 2007. The consultant thinks he has managed to remove all adhesions now. This has been followed by 6 weeks of 6mg oestrogen, with the final 2 weeks als taking 10mg progesteron. I have 7 more days of hormones to go. I am still off work, and my GP gave me another medical letter for 4 weeks at the start of this week.
This month I will have a HSG scan. I phone the hospital on day 1 of my next cycle and will have the scan within the first 10 days of my cycle.
I then see the consultant again on March 6th 2008 to discuss the outcome of the ops/scan and any next steps.
I was also diagnosed with probable cervical stenosis, but the same op should have sorted this out. Certainly it hasn't been mentioned since the first op.
Now, my overiding desire following the ops is to be able to have a second child - I really hope it might help. And obviously removing the intense pain I have had every month for the past few years will be fantastic too!
