Hi, I had 21 day bloods and an ultrasound done via NHS (both back in November) then my husband had SA which took until jan to get results of (normal results).

We have now been referred to the fertility clinic so I guess there must be an issue with my results but the doctor hasn’t said anything at all to me and it’s taken me forever to FINALLY get copies of the results of my tests from them.

Is anyone able to please help me interpret them? I have no clue what I should be looking out for.

TIA

Hi! How long have you been trying for? If it's been a year they just automatically refer you to the fertility clinic after these tests.

Having looked at your results they all look squeaky clean to be honest - although I can't see that they tested your progesterone which is what they should be doing on a day 21 test.

My guess is that as they've not found anything wrong the next step is the fertility clinic for further testing. This is when they usually suggest an HSG/hycosy, test AMH levels and stuff like that before resorting to IUI/IVF.

Make sure you double check your CCG policy though as most of them stipulate that if it's unexplained infertility you're not eligible for IVF until you've hit the 2 year mark.

That’s really helpful thank you. It’s been nearly 18 months now so that makes sense. I thought there was an issue they had not told me about, and then I’ve heard a lot about AMH so was trying to work out if it was any of the things above!

Progesterone result on the last page and indicates that you have ovulated. Nothing jumping out at me either OP, it all looks good and within range.

Flippy87 · 01/03/2022 17:29

This is reassuring- thank you!! I wish the doctor had just put a note on file or something saying ‘within normal range’ or something as I’ve been panicking for like two months whilst I’ve been trying to get copies of the tests!

Hi @Flippy87 they look great. FSH and LH need to be ideally as close as 1:1 as possible and they are. Your scan suggests you have normal activity. I would think your AMH would be within the normal range because your FSH is normal and these two hormones correlate. Has your partner had a SA? Xx

Hi fly thank you for replying. All of this is so useful. I tried googling but it was all too scientific for me and I was just way out of my depth. Yep DH had SA and I think came back as normal. Will try to post it…

@Flippy87 ye looks all normal. I'd definitely push for an NHS HSG or pay for one privately to speed up the process - I think it's about 500 quid. You are reportedly 'more fertile' after you've had one so it could give you a boost! Also, did you have your vitamin D levels checked? The only 2 supplements the fertility clinic said I absolutely should be taking was folic acid and Vit D. X

IsabelHerna · 02/03/2022 08:34

Hi OP I think your results look good, and follow pp's advice about the HSG, it's true, I've seen many positive stories here after they get one.
Test your vitamin levels, and start on those prenatal vitamins. Good luck x

Flippy87 · 02/03/2022 10:58

I’ve been taking folic acid and vit D since we started trying so hopefully covered on that front. Will look up private HSG, not actually heard of this before so thanks!

I would also recommend that your husband have his DNA fragmentation measured. It’s not part of a typical sperm analysis but in my opinion there’s no point in going into IVF without having it done.

Machina01 · 02/03/2022 11:07

I’d also recommend Methyl Folate over Folic Acid and CoQ10 600mg daily.
