Will 1cm fibroid really affect fertility?

Hi all,
The title says it all really. Just had some fertility assessments done and the only thing of real concern is that they found a fibroid in my uterine cavity, with a width of about 1cm.
The consultant has suggested I could have this removed as it may be affecting implantation (we've been ttc for 6 months.) This will cost a little over £3000 to have done privately.
We could afford to do it without getting into debt but we're also not rolling in money, if that makes sense. We could get referred through the NHS but there's the obvious wait time issue (I'm 38.)
Should I pay for the op, or keep trying without?

Hi! My friend has been diagnosed with the same thing very recently, the NHS are removing it in 3 weeks time, she was expecting to have a long wait too xx

Hi @coffeebabes, thanks for your reply. That's very encouraging news about your friend. Do you know (or could you find out?) how long she's had to wait from referral to actual procedure?

She literally was referred about 2 weeks ago xx

I have a friend who discovered a larger fibroid during her early pregnancy scan recently, so based on that i'd say it is possible to conceive. She is currently in the 2nd trimester and it seems to not be affecting the pregnancy, and her consultant is not worried about it. She did have 2 MCs prior to this pregnancy so maybe that was a contributing factor for successful conception. Hope you can get it sorted, if not, just know that it is possible to get pregnant with fibroids in there. Good luck!

I've got three small ones (biggest is about 2cm). Gynaecology consultant checked and wasn't concerned by their size or location (saw her after 2 MCs as was concerned it might be related, she didn't think there was any link).
Anyway, after another MC I'm now 26w. I have a few extra consultant appointments due to MCs but they seem unconcerned about size or location of the fibroid too - although maybe they have suggested surgery due to the location of yours? Good luck.

@madeleine85 thank you for taking the time to reply, that's reassuring to hear. Wishing your friend a healthy and happy rest of her pregnancy

@AwkwardPaws27 thank you for your reply. Do you mind me asking, where are your fibroids? Mine is in the cavity so they seem to think it might hinder implantation.

I'm not sure of their locations, sorry. I know one is left cornual but not large enough to block the fallopian tube.
