Hi all,

I need some help. Not sure if this is the right topic to post under.

I'm not looking to conceive currently waiting till the latter part of this year to do so. However, since having my DS in 2020 and concluded breastfeeding when he turned 1. My periods have been all over the place. (Reminds me of being a teenager all over again 🤦🏽‍♀️).

This month my period started on 07/02/2022 and finished on 13/02/2022. However, I started my period again on 23/02/2022 and I'm due to finish tomorrow 28/02/2022). I'm use to my periods being more than 28 days apart my longest was 52 days but never this close together.

Should I be worried? Should I get this looked into? Does this affect me ovulating? I'm not sure the point to this post is but I guess wanted some reassurance.

Yes you should get it looked at. In a normal cycle, ovulation creates a progesterone increase. When that drops (which it does if you are not pregnant) it induces a period.

This means something is going odd to have periods v frequently or infrequently. It may mean you are not ovulating, but long cycles can also mean delayed/late ovulation. A 19 day cycle does need checked out if they keep being that short.

I used to have very irregular periods. I wouldn’t have a long time between them and could have 2 within one month. It was horrible having to deal with and I felt like I never knew when they were going to come on.
Saying that, after a year of irregular period’s they did start to even themselves out and I am now pregnant.
I’d suggest speaking to a gp just to get it checked and see what they say!
