Is anyone in this position? I’m 30 and pre Xmas was on the fence about even having kids. My dream job came up and I’ve accepted and start in April.

However, now I know I can’t TTC for at least 18 months it’s all I want. I can’t stop thinking about it!! I know I need to get a grip and 18 months isn’t that long, but is anyone in a similar boat? How did you deal with it?

(I’m the higher earner so we need my enhanced mat leave package).

I was in the same position, actually this month is the first month I am able to TTC and avail of my EMP so I’m just waiting patiently for AF. 18 months seems like an extremely long time though, have you double checked the contract? In my case it worked out I needed to be out of my probation and have been in my role for 67 weeks at the estimated week of childbirth. That works out around 7 months before being able to try!

Thanks @Aila1994 it’s about 7 months before I can try, but the position is more complicated as it’s a fixed term contract (with the hope of being made permanent). As I would like it to become permanent, I don’t want to go off too early! It’s really tricky.

I think I’ll see where I’m at in at month 7, and if I don’t like the job as much as I thought I can throw caution to the wind and try then - but might mean I need to be job hunting post mat leave.

So frustrating timing wise.

@Mushrooms0up 1 thing I can tell you is that these 7 months have absolutely flown by so I’m hoping the same happens for you!

Thank you - I’m fairly quiet working my notice period so hoping that once I start my new job, it takes my mind off it a bit!

(I need to stop obsessing over my cycles in the meantime!)
