@Sophi81 A two cycle package with PGTA could be a good deal. A single round of ICSI (where they select the sperm and inject it into egg) cost us about £10k by the time we had done two embryo transfers. If you don’t need ICSI you can knock off about 1K from the price. We also couldn’t do a fresh transfer so that added to the cost (as we then had to pay for a FET at £1500). We didn’t do PGTA on that round. So Without all the extra costs it would have been about £7.5K. The 3 cycle package with both ICSI & PGTA cost us about £18k but we still have to pay for transfers which cost around £1500 each time. Without ICSI would be £15k. There are probably better deals out there but we were happy with our clinic. Also beware of pricing that doesn’t include medication it can make it look a lot cheaper than it is.

Sophi81 · 01/09/2022 13:41

@birdbybird oh I see. Did you have to pay for 3 cycles upfront?? That must have been really expensive. I just got all my costings from CRP but I haven't actually sat down and calculated it all but I'm nervous of seeing the final figure. On top of that I didn't realise I have to pay for immunes with dr S and medication on top😩

@InvisibleDreamer 18k 😱. Oh my goodness is it me or is this just crazy. I can't believe how much we have to pay for ivf! Shocking. How do people afford this😬. I know if I go for this that will be all of my savings gone and no guarantee of it working 😩! So does that mean you only have 1 transfer left? How do you decide to do 1 or 3 cycles? It seems like the prices are quite generic throughout the clinics

its just so sad thinking of this especially when I’ve already spent 7k on superovulation cycles with no success😞.

birdbybird · 01/09/2022 13:48

@Sophi81 i arranged with the clinic to upgrade to 3 cycles by paying the difference after the first cycle.

Sophi81 · 01/09/2022 14:02

@birdbybird ahh that's a good idea. Will see if I can get that option too.

InvisibleDreamer · 01/09/2022 15:04

Yes I don’t think there are many places where you can pay less than 5-6K per round & then if you need extras it soon adds up. We have done 3 collections but no transfers yet. I really wanted to do PGTA after our first round ended in mmc. Looking at the stats for our age we were only expecting around 30% of our embryos to pass the PGTA screening & as we only had two embryos in our first round it made sense to do a few rounds. In hindsight I would have gone straight to doing the 3 rounds with PGTA but our clinic didn’t think we needed it at the time & we didn’t know anything about IVF.

Sophi81 · 01/09/2022 17:07

Has anyone experienced any side effects from the drugs used for IVF?

Ralowi · 01/09/2022 18:26

@birdbybird I went to dr s 2 weeks after my procedure for missed miscarriage, I checked that wouldn't be a problem beforehand and they said no x

Ralowi · 01/09/2022 18:29

@Sophi81 I think it's just a difficult decision to make because I don't have a problem getting pregnant currently and don't know if I'd have success on the immune treatment if we just tried naturally. Or if I'm better off giving myself the best possible chance with Ivf, but I don't know if that's necessarily the case, so many unknowns x

Sophi81 · 01/09/2022 20:57

@Ralowi aww yes I know what you mean. I was like that have no issues getting pregnant but now I can't. Which makes me think do I have secondary infertility or is 8 months not long enough to give it a chance. Like you said so many unknowns. Have you not tried the immunes treatment yet?

I rang a local clinic today to ask about pricing and they said it doesn't include medication. So when I asked roughly how much does the medication cost they said they don't know as you have to buy them yourself from pharmacy???I wasn't aware of this 🤷🏽‍♀️. Surely they must have a rough idea and also why do the fertility clinics not provide the medications?

HoldingOn2Hope · 01/09/2022 22:22

Ladies am I seeing a very faint faint line or is it me??? I'm testing with a cheap asda test not a first response.
Pls be honest if there's defo nothing there lol!

I know I shouldn't read after 5 mins but i defo see a line does anyone else?

MyEasterEggs · 01/09/2022 22:43

The costs blow my mind.

Admittedly, we knew what the potential fees could be after I combed through the IVF testing and treatment I thought we’d benefit from and by the time we have our first FET (hopefully our last) we’ll have spent approx £23K between January and October. (Let’s forget about what we spent when we were TTC naturally!)

This covers urologist, ICSI, IVF, PGTA on seven embryos (we got three normal), medication, bloods and scans, hysteroscopy, EndomeTRIO, immunology tests and intralipids. It doesn’t include nutrition and supplements which has taken us to approx £26K.

Medication usually comes from a separate pharmacy though some clinics have partnerships. Mine were approx £500 for EC (egg collection), £300 for EndomeTRIO cycle, £700 for upcoming FET.

Someone asked upthread how people afford this and the truth is there’s no way we could have tried IVF had we not sold our home last year. It felt scary to do something so drastic, and it wasn’t all for another baby though it played a huge part in our decision making, but I’m glad we've taken this step now because if it doesn’t work out we can perhaps accept it more easily?

MyEasterEggs · 01/09/2022 22:45

@HoldingOn2Hope yes, definitely! Sometimes I see these posts and think 🤔 when everyone is like ‘yeah, I see it!’ But I definitely see it. Gentle congrats 💛

Tgrf55 · 02/09/2022 07:07

@Sophi81 it depends on a lot of factors for how much medication you need for IVF and the cost. When i had my consultation mine would have been 2k! They wanted me to do 3 months of freezing too because my egg reserve is on the lower side so that would have been 6k just for the meds which is insane. I fell pregnant naturally the month before and praying it works out 🙏🏻 have you had a consultation yet?

@HoldingOn2Hope i see a line too! You should do a FRER they're super sensitive so if thats a line then you know. Congrats. X

Sezmarelda1 · 02/09/2022 07:18

I see it too @HoldingOn2Hope . How many days post ovulation are you? Crossing my fingers this is it for you 🙏

birdbybird · 02/09/2022 16:07

@Ralowi have you had a delayed period return with any of your miscarriages?

Im tempted to order another ovusense sensor to see where the heck I am. What’s another £100 when spending thousands on ivf 😒

birdbybird · 02/09/2022 16:10

I have no skin breakouts, Cervical mucus is wettish. Mood wise I’m feeling ok. Feels like early part of the cycle even though it’s been over 5 weeks since the mva. Am not ttc until the appointment at CRP.

Sophi81 · 02/09/2022 16:53

So I have decided to contact the local IVF clinic for a consultation rather than go through CRP as my husband and I feel that the amount of travel time and days that we will have to take off from work will be too much. Especially with my husband being in a new job and he is temping so only gets paid for days he works. I still have a lot of annual leave to take before April so hopefully with the clinic being more local I will be able to go myself if needed.

@HoldingOn2Hope yes there is a line 😃. Congratulations xx

@MyEasterEggs it was me asking how everyone affords it. I'm just shocked how expensive it. It's just such a shame for people like us who go through so many struggles to start a family of our own and then we have to pay for it and then end up with other worries like financials etc 😩

@Tgrf55 you got pregnant before starting ivf? Wow that's just amazing 😃. I've been told not to try by CRP unless I'm on a treatment plan so I feel like I'm wasting time 🤷🏽‍♀️

Tgrf55 · 02/09/2022 17:45

@Sophi81 Yep, i couldn't believe it either! I've been on the treatment plan since March but because i only have 1 tube i wasn't expecting to fall pregnant naturally because i tend to ovulate on the tubeless side but i got luck with a super ov round and had 3 follicles on the side with a tube which has never happened before. Been a rollercoaster ever since, just waiting for my 12 week scan next week and terrified.

Let me know if you have any questions about IVF via CRP though because i had a really useful consultation with Dr Jan about it xx

Sophi81 · 02/09/2022 18:10

@Tgrf55 that is amazing! You may have mentioned this before actually but I think with all the messages we get on here and the stress of trying to get pregnant I think my brain is just scrambled 😂. Awww I have my fingers crossed for you it will go well at the scan 🤞🏼. I wanted to ask, since you were on the superovulation plan, did you find that after your scan your ovulation period was accurate? I felt that out the 6 my ovulation was missed 3 times. And then by the end of it I was only producing 1 follicle by my 5th cycle. Whereas the first time I got pregnant on 1st cycle but I think that’s because dr s administered the ovitrelle on the day of my appointment whereas with dr edge she predicts for a future date so it’s not accurate. But then in saying that it still didn’t work 🙄. Also were you booked to have your IVF with CRP?

im thinking this monthly cycle will be a waste also if I don’t do anything so should I try another superovulation with the gonal injections and see if we get lucky as the ivf will take a couple of month I think ?

Ralowi · 02/09/2022 20:43

@birdbybird with all 3 of my mmc I had a period 5-6 weeks after, I know I ovulated before my period with the last one as I have really strong ovulation symptoms now (pains and bloating) I did a cheap test to check and was positive anyway. I usually use the clear blue fertility monitor which I have found to be great and probably similar to the one you use x

HoldingOn2Hope · 02/09/2022 23:28

So ladies I did a first response test and that was negative 😬

Not sure what to think now? Maybe wait a couple of days to see what happens? Xx

HoldingOn2Hope · 02/09/2022 23:31

Just read on another thread that Asda cheap tests are notorious for false positives so maybe I'm out this month! 🙄 xx

InvisibleDreamer · 03/09/2022 00:55

@HoldingOn2Hope I would wait a couple of days and do another FRER. I’ve heard the same thing about cheap tests. Think it’s awful that they can be on the market when sometimes they give false positives.
