Ongoing change to cycles after vaccine?

Hi,

I am completely pro-vaccination and was very happy to have my first, second and booster Covid jabs.

I've been tracking my cycles for a long time now - they were always 28/29 days, really regular. Ovulation was day 14-17, a little more irregular than the overall cycle length.

Having my second covid jab coincided with beginning TTC, so I was tracking ovulation much more closely. The month that I had the jab, my ovulation was delayed to CD25 and the whole cycle length was 34 days.

Since then, ovulation is usually CD19 and my luteal phase is getting shorter and shorter, with more spotting in the days leading up to a period. This month I've started spotting at 5DPO, and expect my period to start by 7/8DPO.

It could just be coincidence. I've got no idea what's causing these cycle changes over the last 8 months or so. But has any one else experienced ongoing issues with their cycle after Covid jabs? I'm not expecting there to be any research on it, because you know, women's issues never get medical or scientific attention.

I posted in another thread’short luteal phase’ but yes my cycles have been affected since my first vaccine back in July. My cycles reduced from 35 days like clockwork to 28-30 days. I also spot up to 5 days before my period. I have actually messaged my gp about this but still waiting to hear. I am very much expecting to be fobbed off too.
I am ttc no.2 btw.

I have had the exact same issue since my first vaccine (I have had first and second dose but not the booster). Had my first vaccine around April time and since then my cycles haven't been the same.

I have spotting around the same time as you and I have been ovulating later too. I grew a bit concerned so I went to the doctor. I had an ultrasound but everything came back fine. I am still a bit worried about it though!

I have tried googling to see if anyone else has the same problem but all I can find are articles saying some women's cycles have been messed up for a couple of months and then they resume back to normality. My cycles have always been really regular, no spotting, hardly any symptoms, ovulation at the usual average time etc so I don't know what else it could be apart from the vaccine. I haven't changed anything else! Maybe been a bit more stressed but that's about it.

I will be following this thread quite closely as I honestly thought I was the only one!

Thanks for replying, I’m the same, I’ve been Googling and googling but everything just reassures there are no long term issues. I get that they don’t want to make peoples afraid to have the vaccine but i do wish that women’s concerns were taken seriously.

How easy was it for you to conceive #1, @Whatinthename20?

@RunningOnHope we conceived straight away after an early MC. Literally ovulated 2 weeks after. I was younger and fitter then pre-pandemic🙈 is this your first time ttc? How many cycles have you been trying?

Jmarie123 · 17/02/2022 11:21

Yep I think this is what happened to me..I’ve always had really regular cycles but since my second vaccine I’ve had a Luteal phase of about 5 days which is so frustrating now I’m trying to get pregnant. My period was always cycle day 27-28 but this month it came cycle day 23, 4 days after ovulation 😢
Like you I’m pro vaccine but can’t ignore that the changes have been since then...

My cycles have also changed since having my booster, cycle is now 4 days shorter and since the booster I've been spotting for about 4 days before my period but pre booster I didn't spot at all before my AF

Whatinthename20 · 17/02/2022 18:34

@KSAM your cycle changes are identical to mine

RunningOnHope · 17/02/2022 23:11

@Whatinthename20 first time TTC for me but would be second child as my wife carried our first.

Are any of you trying to tell your doctor avoid the changes post jab? Mine doesn’t seem to understand the concept of a short luteal phase at all, so I don’t feel like they’re going to listen about this…

@RunningOnHope my doctor didn’t seem to acknowledge a short luteal phase being a problem either but I had an appointment this week and because of my elongated periods as well I’ve been sent for some blood tests for progesterone etc so it’s worth talking to them.
