Hi all, sorry this might be a long one. I'm brand new here, literally created this account just to ask this. Basically, I'm 28 and I have had the contraceptive bar Implanon in since I was 20, one after the other, 3 bars in total. I got my last one taken out in Feb 2021. I havent had a period since, and I didnt get periods on the bar apart from maybe once a year. I knew it would take a while to get my periods back but its been a year now, I got married late last year so ignored it as i didnt want my period for my wedding! But now that we're discussing having a baby I said its time I bit the bullet and got checked. I had a baseline vaginal scan on Monday and she said she thinks I might have PCOS but she doesnt see fibroids, just a lot of follicles on my ovaries. She referred me for another appointment with a specialist but the earliest I could get was April with him. However during the appointment she did say my lining at the moment was quite thick which means I may get a period in the next two weeks, or maybe I'm pregnant, and advised me to do a test just in case. I did a test this morning and it was negative when I did it, blank, couldn't see any line (i used Clear Blue Ultra Early) however I went back into the bathroom about 4 hours after I took it and glanced at it in the bin, and there's definitely a line now. I dont know much about evaporation lines ive just been googling but apparently they are usually grey? This was definitely blue. It was thin, it didn't look like an absolute positive, but my question really is when do I do a second test? Since I don't get my periods I have no clue about any days of my cycle etc, so do I just do one again tomorrow morning, or should I wait longer? Should I do a digital test instead? Any advice is appreciated!

Blue eyes are notorious for evaps. You could take another one in a few days. I have PCOS. When I had my ultrasound I hadn't had a cycle for a few months and my lining was very thick. I wasn't pregnant though I think it was just thick because I hadn't bled for a while. I ended up getting my period a few days after. I had a uterine biopsy during the appointment so I think that encouraged things to start. Good luck with ttc Smile

Hey!
After nearly 2 years trying to conceive, I had my fair share of evaporation lines. They can be deviating if you're so desperate for that positive test.
If you are pregnant the line should show up in the time frame. Usually 5-10 minutes.
Maybe get a digital test for a definite answer.
Best of luck!!

Thank you both, ill give it a few days and then test with a digital. I dont mind if I'm not, as we haven't even really started TTC because I cant even track my cycle yet, but it would be a happy accident if I was. But honestly, I'd just be happy to get my period back on track so that I know when I'm ovulating and can start making plans that way. @Salamander91 can I ask if you were on any medication for your PCOS? Ive gone down a rabbit hole of research, and seeing things like Metformin, Clomid etc pop up.I'll have to wait until end of April before my gynae appointment, so wondering if i should ask my GP to go on any of these in the meantime?

@champagneprblms i too have pcos and I was on Letrozol which is a form of clomid. It worked for me. I conceived 2nd cycle and am now 10 weeks pregnant ☺️ I had been trying for 18 months before.

@champagneprblms I'm not currently no. I'm trying to lose some weight atm because my BMI is currently too high for them to give me clomid. Weirdly after a year and a half of irregular cycles they seemed to settle in August and are fairly regular atm. I'm hoping I'll be able to conceive naturally. I already have 3 children who were conceived with no issues.

I've got PCOS and taking metformin for it. Most GPs seem clueless about this, despite how common it is. You may get lucky with your GP, so do talk to them, you never know
