Will there be a difference between CB OPK monitor and the Easy@Home ones?

I’ve been using the Easy@Home OPK strips and the PreMom app to interpret them, and it all seems fine. It identifies a peak every month and I think the app is great.

However, lots of people rave about the CB OPK monitor on here, and my friend said that the CB one is ‘better’ than the Easy@Home strips?

So I’m just wondering if there is any difference between the two? Surely, a LH surge is a LH surge and both strips would pick it up at the same time?

The main difference is that the monitor will also track estrogen levels, not just lh. Because of that, it will help detect your peak better, and earlier. That's why you don't have to POAS more than once a day.

Hi, I’ve used CB advanced OPKs for several months and used easy@home as well for the past 2 cycles, thinking I’d switch to the cheaper ones if I got the same results. Both cycles the CB has picked up my peak 24hrs before I’ve got a peak on easy@home (which I’ve done twice a day). Don’t know if that helps.

That’s interesting, so two different tests gave you two different peak days?

I used both at the same time. CB picked up my peak earlier than the easy@home ones. I think close to 24hrs!

Yes so CB static smiley (peak) on day 14 morning, positive easy@home day 15 morning (two cycles in a row had the exact same thing)

@Decaffe ^ that was meant to be in reply to you!

How strange! So which one do you trust @dory0 and @QueenLagertha - how do you decide which day is ovulation day and when to start counting your DPO?!

@Decaffe not sure really! I had what I think was ovulation pain for the first time in 8 cycles of tracking and it was on day 15 - day of the easy@home peak. Which kind of made me think the CB is right, because ovulation is said to usually be 24 hours after peak, I think? I’ve just tried to have it in my head that I’m one of the two DPO, today to me is 10/11DPO 😂 I’ve stopped testing early so a bit less focussed on DPO than I was really.

@Decaffe I think CB just gave more notice. So they were both right iyswim. Fitted in with ovulation signs and temp chart. So much better to know over a day in advance rather than 12 hrs before. Especially since sperm can take so long to be able to fertilise an egg so 12 hrs not always enough time really.

QueenLagertha · 01/02/2022 18:47

@Decaffe ovulation isn't an exact science anyway. It's just a rough idea

Bundaberg84 · 02/02/2022 10:36

Did you see my reply? It's because the monitor also picks up estrogen, so they will show you a peak 24 days before ovulation occurs, so you can time BD better. That's the difference and why it shows the peak earlier.
