Hi everyone,

Just starting cycle 6 TTC (first baby) and it feels like a disappointing milestone, and I’d really appreciate any advice or words of wisdom.

I use digital OPKs every month so the timing isn’t an issue, I have regular 34 day cycles. I’m 29, a healthy weight, exercise 4 times a week, eat well…so I’m starting to feel frustrated and sad that it hasn’t worked yet!

I know it is normal for it to take up to a year, but 6 months feels like a turning point for me, emotionally.

I do have Polycistic ovaries (diagnosed via ultrasound) but all my hormone levels are normal, so I was reassured by my GP that as long as I’m ovulating every month, I have no less chance than anyone else.

I’m really struggling and feeling a bit pessimistic. Can anyone offer me any guidance, or your own personal stories of a similar situation?

Thank you all.

Hi,
Its so hard TTC. I also have polycystic ovaries (but not syndrome apparently) my husband also has issues with both his sperm count and motility but we managed to conceive naturally, though it did take around 15 months. Sorry.
I ended up getting pregnant the month that I'd given up all hope to be honest. We were waiting for IVF after being told we were eligible and having the tests which confirmed the above issues.
Just keep trying and try to relax and have fun and hopefully it'll happen for you soon, although it feels like it 6 months isn't that long unfortunately.

I have one polycystic ovary (but definitely not PCOS) but because my hormones are all normal and I ovulated regularly, my consultant actually said if anything it was good thing rather than bad - as I had lots and lots of eggs and they were being released fine. That said, we have taken longer than average to conceive but have just conceived naturally at 14 months. I fully understand the starting to worry, but statistically it's very very likely you will conceive in next 6 months. Good luck!

@AmyD54321
Hello! I have a 16mo dd.

I started ttc in June 2018 and fell pregnant in my 8th cycle in February 2019. I had a missed miscarriage and eventually had surgical management to end the pregnancy at the start of May 2019.

I was ttc for another 8 cycles and fell pregnant again in December 2019. My dd was born in September 2020.

My journey start to finish was 27 months, each pregnancy taking 8 months to conceive. It's frustrating but as you say, it is normal to take a while and you'll find that people don't brag about it taking 6,8, 10 months because what is there to brag about when you haven't had success on cycle 1 or 2.

I had fertility tests privately after my mmc and my dh and I had excellent fertility. Both healthy weight, non-smokers, don't drink alcohol, all the things you'd want. I was put on "expectant management" which meant I was expected to fall pregnant within 6 months. I did.

I'm now ttc #2 and I'm on cycle 5. It's just one of those things. You're very likely to be pregnant by July.

I have polycystic ovaries and I'm on clomid round 1! Are you using OPKs/temping? I just got back on to them again. 🤞🏻 for our turn soon

I am sorry that ttc has started getting to you x

It's normal to start feeling like these after 6 months, do you have a support network in place?

My pattern for TTC my 3 pregnancies is
1 month (miscarriage)
7 months (my daughter)
1 month (currently 14 weeks)

It's just a bit random! I was getting a bit twitchy when TTC my daughter as like you I was thinking why is it taking so long!! But it will happen for you, just need to hang in there, it shit I know!
