16 dpo, no af, bfn

Just wondering if anyone can cast some light on what's happening to my body. I ovulated late this month and am currently 16 dpo, cd 35. I'm getting cramps every evening like af is starting but nothing, tested Saturday, Monday and today but bfn. I've never missed af in the last 15 years, why is my body playing tricks on me now?
I'm not particularly stressed at the moment and haven't had any big lifestyle changes. Just getting worried that something's wrong.

Have you tried testing in the afternoon? I found my hcg is more concentrated then than in fmu.

Frida9 · 27/01/2022 10:20

I haven't tried that, will see after work today. Not sure if af is starting because I've gone all shaky this morning for no reason. I just want to know either way, hoping it's not ectopic or something like that

Well I did a FRER this evening and it was bfn, still sore but no sign of af. Don't know if it's worth contacting my GP, they're pretty rubbish and the receptionist will probably tell me to phone back if I miss my next one but I'm getting worried. This has never happened before (I'm 28). I don't mind if it's bfn this time as long as it's not something more sinister

@Frida9 did AF show for you?

Yes, showed up today 11 days late. No idea why, nothing changed this month. Just need to keep trying for my bfp.

My period was a bit messed up for a couple of months after covid booster?

Frida9 · 29/01/2022 22:43

@mightbeyesmightbeno I haven't had my covid vaccines because I was worried they could mess with my cycle when TTC, seems that's happening regardless unfortunately. Only thing that I can think this month is that we've started using pre seed. Haven't heard of that affecting anyone else's cycle though

mightbeyesmightbeno · 29/01/2022 22:52

I don't think pre-seed will have affected it. Please get your vaccines soon - a messed up cycle is better than covid during pregnancy. Look at the statistics for pregnant women in intensive care due to covid - nearly all of them are unvaccinated. You would worry if you did get pregnant and then caught covid.

lakejupiter · 29/01/2022 23:47

PreSeed shouldn't affect it OP. But Covid a much bigger risk to conception and pregnancy than the vaccines. I got all three of mine and they did delay ovulation & AF by a few days the month after but I still ovulated and had a cycle.

Orangeon · 30/01/2022 00:48

While the vaccines can delay or bring forward ovulation, it doesn’t actually affect the rate of women getting pregnant.

When they were doing the clinical tests on the vaccines, the percentage of women who got pregnant in the vaccine group and in the placebo group was the same.

If you get your vaccine you don’t need to skip a month of TTC, just carry on! Best of luck Smile

Frida9 · 30/01/2022 10:31

I have a number of reasons for not wanting the covid vaccine just now including a family member dying from a blood clot after receiving theirs, I'm not against them but with TTC proving to be as difficult as it is I'd rather wait until I am pregnant to get vaccinated.

I am very sorry to hear your relative was one of the 72 people out of 24 million to have had such a bad reaction to the vaccine Flowers Best of luck with your TTC journey x

Justwantbaby1 · 30/01/2022 11:22

@Frida9 don’t let people try and make you feel bad for not wanting the vaccines, we all have our own opinions on them and that’s your choice, some very arsey comments here that aren’t needed.

I had my first two but decided against the booster, the first two have actually messed up my cycles since having them (yes, it happens!) a couple of people I know have now been struggling to conceive since having the booster and that’s a enough for me to not want to risk it.

Yeah, your family member was one in the 72 that got a bad reactions, but that’s enough reason for you not to have it and nobody should make you feel bad about it.

I hope ttc goes well for you, good luck🤞🏼x

Orangeon · 30/01/2022 11:27

a couple of people I know have now been struggling to conceive since having the booster

Just to point out to anyone reading that this will be a coincidence and nothing to do with the vaccine. As I mentioned above, in the double blinded research study, the proportion of women getting pregnant in the control group and in the vaccinated group were the same. This shows that the vaccine does not affect fertility. Smile

We now know that it can affect the length of a cycle (indeed it has mine, three times), but in and of itself, this does not affect the rates at which women are falling pregnant after having taken the vaccine.

I hope we all get our BFPs soon! Smile

@Orangeon I’m just talking from thing I’ve seen from people I know, that’s my opinion and it’s enough for me to not want it.

@Justwantbaby1 thank you, I created this thread because I was looking for support and advice, not judgement of my morals and opinions. As this thread has now been hijacked by people forcing their opinions on me I'll stop replying. This is a forum for people TTC, not for political discussion.
