Booster before trying to conceive?

Hi

I am in a bit of a pickle as to have the booster or not before trying conceive. I've had long covid since over a year and I got very poorly after having each of the jabs. I contracted Covid again in Nov this year. We are planning to try conceiving later on this month and I have almost recovered from long covid (not fully) but I am worried about having the booster and getting ill again. Any advice please? Smile

If you get the booster then your symptoms would hopefully be much less if you were unlucky to catch it again. You won't become ill from the booster. Maybe some side effects but they will be mild even compared to the first 2 jabs as it is a much lower dose. I would get it if I were you.

The advice from the royal college of obstetricians and gynaecologists is for anyone considering conceiving or pregnant to get all the vaccines offered to them. I would take the booster now.

I had my 2nd vaccine the day before I ovulated I'm currently 35 weeks pregnant, if you are due your booster I wouldn't put it off for TTC which isn't guaranteed to happen the first month.

You are unlucky enough to have caught Covid twice in 22 months, once developing long covid. You seem to have exposure to it and so it’s not beyond the realms of possibility that you will catch it again during your pregnancy. Pregnancy makes you vulnerable and given you already reacted badly to your first case of Covid, I’d be doing everything I can to minimise any potential risk during my hopeful pregnancy. I’d take short term effects of the vaccine then the longer term effects you’ve already experienced.
