Pregnancy - What's going on?

Hi all!

So I'm just curious if anyone else has experienced the same thing as me.

I had the inplant removed on November 3rd 2021, and my period came back to normal on the 27th of november. I have been trying to conceive in the month of December and I actually havd a positive pregnancy clear blue digital result over christmas time. However, every test there after was negative.. and infact on the 28th December I had a period, it was 5 days late thats why i thought I was pregnant because of the positive i had once + the late period. I had a period so turns out I wasn't pregnant but now I'm just wondering whats going on. I was to try and conceive with my partner, we've been trying for 2 months, I heard it can take 3-8 months after the inplant is out to conceive? I'm very confused after testing postive + being late and then to have a period really ruined our hopes!

Could it have been a chemical pregnancy? I'm thinking with you period being late it sounds like it may have been.

Someone said this to me before, I was in denial, not something I wanted to hear... but it makes sense sort of. I had infact 2/3 tests that turned postive after like 20 minutes, I thought it was evopration lines, so took a digital and it said 1-2weeks. Then every single test there after, negative, I thought I was until the period came..

@Lucy1080 I think if you had more than one positive test then it sounds like a chemical might be the most likely explanation. If this is the case then I am sorry 😞 Chemical pregnancies are far more common than we are lead to believe although I know from experience that that information doesn't provide much comfort.

Make sure you log it with your GP and maybe get their opinion too.

Yes I believe so too it may of been one due to my period also being quite heavy after and a bit abnormal discharge. However, I've read up that its quite common and doesn't affect chances of being pregnant again, so fingers crossed I can hopefully conceive again

Chemical pregnancies are thought to occur in up to half of all cycles when trying to conceive. Usually, positive tests turn negative quite quickly and you then have a slightly late period. This does sound very much like your experience.

I hope it happens for you soon. It is normal for it to take 6-12 months so try and see it as a bit of a marathon rather than a sprint if you can.

Thanks for your help! Really appreciate it, I've been trying to conceive since November and this really had my hopes, I did think it may be too fast though so perhaps that's what happened. I hope a chemical pregnancy doesn't happen again
