Any experience of Luteal Phase Defect?

I'm trying to conceive #2 for us but #1 pregnancy for me, as my wife carried our daughter.
My luteal phase was 10 days when I started tracking but now often 8 or. 9 days, this month it was 7. Even when it does stretch to 10 there's often been spotting for the last few days gradually increasing, so depending on exactly when I decide the blood is real enough for CD1, it could have been 8 or 9.

Wondering if anyone has been treated for luteal phase defect and how responsive a GP might be to me asking for progesterone tests etc. Any other wisdom or encouragement appreciated!

@RunningOnHope
As gp for the blood test, they say cd21 but that's only for someone who ovulates on cd14, so test meant to be 7dpo where progesterone peaks, 7 day lp is very short you can but progesterone cream of amazon to see if that helps but wait to see if doc will run tests first.

I’ve just ordered some progesterone cream and will start using it the day of ovulation (usually day 20 or 21) of a 28 day cycle

@Maricoco hi there, can I ask which one you ordered? I struggle with short luteal phase/low progesterone. Currently being referred by my GP but really want to try anything and everything in the meantime!

@Janey3090 hey! I ordered Wellsprings Serenity Cream after reading positive things here on mumsnet. I haven’t been trying for a year yet so haven’t gone to my GP but I can just feel that the short LP is part of the issue. What did your GP say when you mentioned short LP to them?
